Reciprocal Library and Information Services Partnership

  1. Aim

The library and information services of Swansea NHS Trust (SNT) and Swansea University (SU) will work in partnership to provide a high quality service to all staff and students within the two institutions.

Statistics of use will be monitored to ascertain if a library within the agreement is unduly burdened by the number of users and demand on library stock.

  1. Reciprocal Entitlements
  1. All staff and students of SNT and SU

All SNT and SU staff and students will be able to access and borrow from the libraries of both SNT and SU. The borrowing limit for participants will be 5 normal loan items (ie not from the short loans collection) at the visited library.

Athens accounts or computer network accessibility will not be available for the visiting staff or students.

Interlibrary loan requests must be made with home institution or where grant funding is being held.

  1. SUhealth science students on placement in the SNT

All SUhealth science students will have the provisions of Section a, plus computer access via the available SU sponsored JANET computers at the SNT Libraries.

  1. SUMedicalSchoolStudents

SU medical students will have the provisions of Section a, plus computer access via the SU sponsored JANET computers at the SNT Libraries. SNT Athens accounts will also be given to the Medical Students.

  1. Non-SU Students on Placement at SNT

Non-SU students on placement at SNT may access the SU library for reference only under this agreement.

3. Using Libraries

Staff and students are subject to the normal library rules of the host library, and are responsible for any fines or replacement costs incurred. Your card can be withdrawn if you infringe the rules of the host library.

Staff and students of SU may use the SNT libraries during staffed hours. Staff at the SNT may use SU during normal opening hours.

4.Application

Applicants must bring a signed form from their home institution’s library stating they are in good standing with that library.

SU staff and students will need to apply for a NHS library card. The application can be handed in at any of the SNT Libraries. Staff and students will need to present an active SU identification card to a NHS Librarian.

SNT staff can use their NHS library card at SU. Details will be entered into the campus system upon the initial request of borrowing privileges.
