Picky Centre hosted the annual Orkney Badminton Primary Schools Team Event on Sun 22nd April. Orkney Badminton are extremely pleased to have Northvet sponsor this Event and the Primary Singles & Doubles Competition back in January. Thank you to them for their input promoting Badminton at this agegroup. Well done to all the teams taking part and to all the coaches/parents who also put time into coaching etc. Orkney Badminton could not run competitions of this size without the many people who co-ordinate and help before and on the day and extend a massive thankyou to everyone who gave their time to organising and scoring games.

Teams were divided into 4 Groups before playing off for final positions overall. 1st in each Group played off for 1st-4th overall,2nd for 5th to 8th etc was the format played. 3rd & 4th place overall was a very close match between Glaitness Angry Birds and Stromness Smashers with a draw of 3 games each, Glaitness Angry Birds secured 3rd place on points by 101 to 74. Stromness Smashers were unfortunate to lose a player due to illness, which meant that 2 games in each match scored no points so they played very well to secure 4th place overall. The Final for 1st & 2nd places between Glaitness Bean Team & Firth Ashaway had excellent play from both teams, before the Glaitness Team secured the Match 4 -2 taking the Shield back to Glaitness School for 2 years in a row.
