Meet
Organization:The 2015 South Central Short Course Zone Championships will be hosted and managed by RICE Aquatics Masters. Any teams wanting to support this meet with volunteers, technical assistance, and officials please contact the meet director. The RICE Aquatics Masters will be responsible for all the administrative operation of the meet, including entries, seeding, heat sheets, and results. As well as responsible for the on-deck operation of the meet including timing system, console, scoreboard, and times. The RICE Aquatics website (riceaquatics.com) and Club Assistant (clubassistant.com) will also play a significant supporting role.
Facility:The Barbara & David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center’s aquatic facility is a 50 meter by 25 yard outdoor pool. The race course is an 8 lane by 25 yard section with a bulkhead. The facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art Colorado timing system and scoreboard that displays eight lanes with both heat and event numbers. Several lanes at the turn end of the pool will be available for continuous warm up and warm down throughout the meet. Parking is available in lots outlined (attachment).

Schedule:Friday, April 3, 2015:Warm-ups begin at 4:00 PM ; Meet begins at 5:00 PM.
Saturday, April 4, 2015 & Sunday April 5, 2015: Warm ups will begin at 8:00 AM; Meet begins at 9:30 AM.
**There will be continuous warm-up and warm down in the adjacent pool during the entire meet.
Eligibility:Open to all registered masters swimmers holding valid and current USMS card, aged 18 and older as of April 3rd, 2015.
Sanction:Sanctioned by Gulf LMSC for USMS, Inc.____. Times achieved at the competition will be submitted for USMS Top Ten record considerations.The length of the competition course is in compliance and on file with USMS in accordance with articles 105.1.7 and 107.2.1, but as a bulkhead course, is subject to length confirmation. Eligibility of times for USMS Top 10 and records will be contingent on verification of bulkhead placement.
Rules:Current USMS rules will govern the conduct of this meet.

Entry Fees:Individual entry fee: $50.00, individual late entry fee is $60.00. (see paragraph below for deadlines). Relay only swimmers: $20.00. Relays: $12.00 (relays can be entered and paid for on-deck. Individual Deck entries will not be accepted!
Entry
Deadline:ONLINE MEET ENTRIES CAN BE MADE AT clubassistant.com and must be submitted by Sunday, March 25, 2015 at 11:59 PM. After March 25th and through Wednesday, April 1st 11:59pm, the online entry is considered late and is $60.00. After Wednesday, April 1st, the online entry form will be turned off.
MAILED PAPER ENTRIES must be received by Tuesday, March 25, 2015 with $50.00 payment. Late paper entries must be received by Wednesday, April 1st with $60.00 payment. A copy of an athlete’s USMS card MUST be included with paper entry in order for your entry to be accepted. If you desire entry confirmation for a paper entry, please include an e-mail address with your entries or a phone number. Make checks made payable to RICE Aquatics Masters. Deck entries WILL NOT be accepted! (Exception is relay and relay only swimmers).
Conduct of
the Meet:All events will be seeded by gender and entry time and swum slowest to fastest. The 500, 1000, 1650-yard freestyles and the 400 yard individual medley will require a positive check-in on the following schedule: 1650 Free – Friday 4:45 PM;400 IM- Friday 4:15 PM; 500 Free- Saturday 9:00 AM; 1000 Free- Sunday 9:30 AM. They will be seeded as mixed and swum slowest to fastest. The relay events will be deck entered and seeded by time. Relay events may be combined. Relay entries will be accepted up to one hour after the beginning of the competition each day. Swimmers participating only in relays must present a copy of their USMS card, pay a $20.00 surcharge, and sign the liability release at the time of the entry. A psych sheet will be made available online at riceaquatics.com and clubassistant.com. All events with distances of 400 or more yards will be swam slowest to fastest and mixed gender.
Entry Limit:Athletes may enter a maximum of five (5) individual and two (2) relay events per day.

Awards:Medals will be given for places 1st through 3rd in each individual event in each age group. Team awards will be given for places 1st through 3rd.

Directions:Rice University is located just across from the Texas Medical Center. From US 59 exit Shepherd/Greenbriar. Turn south on Greenbriar (one way) and proceed to Rice Blvd (3rd traffic light from 59). Turn left onto Rice Blvd. Make a right turn onto the Rice campus at entrance 17, one block east of the Shepherd traffic light.
Visitor paid parking is available in West Lot #1 immediately in front of the AlicePrattBrownBuilding. The commuter lot West lot #4 may be open for free parking.
