Community Service Opportunities

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT

Serving one’s community is an important and meaningful experience. Giving back can feel good, as well as do good. As the table below suggests, there are many different ways to be involved in community service. This project is due on Tuesday, May 28th. That’s plenty of time to procrastinate until the last minute and realize “oh crap! I need to do it all this weekend!”

You must:

-  Complete this project 10 hours MINIMUM of community service by Tuesday, May 28th. More hours can get you more credit (11-30 = x½ pt, 31-50 = x1 pt, 51-70 = x1.5pts, etc.)

-  Obtain a letter with the signature of your on-site service supervisor or a signature on the bottom back side of this document (you can cut it off and glue it to the paper you turn in)

-  Create a short PPT to present to the class about your work OR write a 2-3 page (double spaced) paper explaining:

o  How & Why you chose the organization(s) you did

o  How your work contributed to the community.

o  What you think about it (What difference did it make? How did you feel about doing it? Would you do anything differently? Do more? Be Honest)

Completion of this project will get you credit (not for a grade, though doing more hours can get you extra credit as outlined above). As per our school district policy, failure to complete this project will lower your grade for your class; no hours will drop you 2 full letter grades. Any hour total under 10 will drop you 1 letter grade (B to C, C to D, D to F, etc.).
