#1 Expand and communicate the scholarship of academic advising.
#2 Provide professional development opportunities that are responsive to the needs of advisors and advising administrators.
#7 Pursue innovative technology tools and resources to support the Association / To increase traffic and interaction on the commission’s Facebook and Twitter pages. / Chair has created a google document for steering committee to create social media posts on a bi-weekly basis. / Number of responses will be recorded by chair and charted to gauge interaction with members of these social media platforms. / Document has been created and steering committee has preloaded their responses for the prior academic year.
An updated version will be created for the 17-18 school year.
Number of responses has not been recorded by the chair. Anecdotally, interaction occurs almost exclusively when a post is made. We have a few individuals who will use the Facebook group like the listserv and ask questions. / Chair has created a form for steering committee to create 5 social media posts each to cover each week for the academic year. Chair will be preloading them in Hootsuite to automatically post.
A Steering Committee member will be appointed to track responses or the team will take turns tracking responses. I believe Facebook now tracks this information, chair will investigate.
#2 Provide professional development opportunities that are responsive to the needs of advisors and advising administrators.
#5 Develop and sustain effective Association leadership. / Organize lunch or social event at 2017 NACADA Annual conference. / Solicit current commission members to attend. / Did lunch or social event occur? (yes/No) / A lunch has been planned and reservations made for this event by a steering committee member. / Promote event with membership via email and the CIG fair in St. Louis.
#1 Expand and communicate the scholarship of academic advising.
#2 Provide professional development opportunities that are responsive to the needs of advisors and advising administrators. / Create a structure for a directory of interested parties looking to do research or engage in new programs on their campus. / Solicit current commission members to determine areas they want to connect on (doing research, co-presenting, etc.)
Working with steering committee to identify best practices or directories of engagement. / Was directory created? (Yes / No).
Of those who join, how many were contacted or engaged? / Steering Committee chose to select 3-5 topics to highlight in the resources area of our web page.
The volunteers were polled to pick their top 3 topics out of the 15 listed.
Emails were sent via the listserv and posted on Social Media to have membership send links or resources for these topics. / Have only received 6 responses and will resend and make frequent requests this next academic year.
Chair and Steering Committee will compile links and have them posted on our resources web page.
This project will be discussed at our business meeting at annual conference to get more interest and participation by the members.
