Curriculum Goals

Infant’s 6 weeks-15 months

The first few years of life are an extraordinary time that sets the stage for all the years to follow. Each child needs to develop a sense of autonomy, the sense of being a separate, independent self that comes from being treated as an important individual and being allowed increasing opportunities for freedom.

Our curriculum for this age group provides growth and development in the following areas:

Personal Care Plan:

Parents and the teacher’s will establish a personal care plan that will be continually updated to ensure that care routines are the prime times that fit with the child and families. Snuggle care: Very young babies will spend ample time each day heart- to -heart with their teacher. Every sound and movement of the baby will be met with a warm response: a word, a smile, a touch that signals, “You are special.”

Let’s Read:

Long before they understand the words and pictures, babies benefit from the joy of sharing a book in the arms of a caring adult. That is why we feel it is so important to begin reading with young babies and to continue to gain momentum as the child matures. On their teachers lap, on the floor, and as they drift off to sleep, babies will experience the magic and wonder of books.

My Place to Grow:

Babies are sensory-motor beings. They explore the world with their senses and their developing motor skills. Long before infants understand concepts like “under” or “far” with their minds, their bodies learn to navigate the up and down, over and under of the physical world. We will provide your child with a rich learning environment with appropriate learning centers planned and organized to maximize:

Large and Small Motor Experiences: reaching, grasping, kicking, holding, pulling and standing, creeping and crawling in, out, over, and under.

Sensory Experiences:Explorations of texture, color, patterns, size and shape, smell, taste, weight.

Cognitive Experiences: Object permanence, spatial relationships, classifying, collecting and dumping, cause and effect experiences, problem-solving.

Language and Music: Adult-child conversations, reading and language play, explorations in music, rhyming, and sound.

Personal Expression: Art, movement, imitation, and beginning dramatic play, doll and stuffed animal play.

Parent’s Prime Time: We understand that the parent-child relationship is primary. We want to encourage and welcome parents to call or drop in any time with ideas, questions or concerns.

Infant Daily Schedules (this will very as infants schedules very)

7:00 am Open/Inside Play

8:00am Breakfast (for older infants that will be eating solid food)

8:45am Indoor play, large motor, outdoor play, sensory, Naps, planned activities

11:00am Lunch

11:45 Rest for the older infants, indoor play

2:30 Snack

*This schedule is an idea of what a day may look like for an infant. With infants all may be on different daily schedules. With our older infants who will be on solid foods this will give you an idea of when breakfast lunch and snack will be provided.

Our Infant program is designed for individual development at the child’s natural pace. Caring and learning are inseparable. It is also our policy that children will be supervised at all times.

Conferences will be held twice a year to formally go our over our documentation of your child’s development in all areas, intellectual, physical, social and emotional and any other area that you would like to have us work on. However, if at anytime you have questions, comments, or concerns about our curriculum please feel free to discuss it with your child’s teacher or the Director.

Our hours of operation at the center are Monday through Friday 7am-5pm.
