Captain Whittles served in combat as the Director, Combined Joint Intelligence Operations Center – Afghanistan (CJIOC-A) from June 2009 to July 2010 providing senior leadership with nation-building, transnational, and reconciliation recommendations and solutions. Navy shore assignments: Chief of Staff for Commander Information Dominance Corps Reserve Component (CIDCRC), Joint Reserve Base, Fort Worth, TX, responsible for man, train, equip (MTE) issues for 6,700 IDC personnel and six IDC Regional Commanders engaged in providing operational intelligence support to 30 supported commands throughout CONUS/OCONUS. Assistant Counter-drug Program Manager, Chief of Naval Operations, Intelligence Directorate (CNO-N20); Anti-Terrorist Watch Officer, Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS-0166); Deputy N2/N3, Naval Warfare Development Command (NWDC) coordinating Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance programs supporting Fleet Battle Experiments (FBE); and Executive Officer, Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI-0397) supporting war-gaming at the Naval War College.Military awards include: Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal along with various campaign and service awards.
