POST:DEPUTY DIRECTOR: MEDIA LIAISON (NDT52/2012)

SALARY:An inclusive remuneration package of R434505.00per annum (conditions apply)

REQUIREMENTS:A recognized three-year degree/ diploma (NQF6) in Communications or Journalism. Proven experience in communications and media liaison. The ability to develop innovative and appropriate communication action plans and strategies. Excellent written and conceptual skills are essential. Experience in managing teams. Well-developed media contacts and agood understanding of the dynamics in the sector. Strong organizational, planning and problem solving skills. The ability to manage people and projects and the Directorate budget. This post is ideally suited for someone that: can work under pressure; work irregular hours and willing to travel; is able to engage with stakeholders; can gather and analyse information, can apply policies and can work independently and in a team.

DUTIES:Reporting to the Director: External Communications, the successful candidate will assist with the implementation of communication strategies for all major departmental projects, as well as: * project manage communication activities around events and campaigns on the departmental events calendar, develop and implement a media engagement / liaison strategy and action plans; * manage the utilisation of diverse media platforms to profile the Department and its principals; Write and edit speeches and editorial copy such as opinion editorial articles and letters to editors. * Manage the provision of a media monitoring and analysis service; * Provide media liaison support for departmental parliamentary activities; * Conduct research and facilitate input to Ministerial and high-level departmental speeches, parliamentary questions, etc.
