Research Methods, Spring 2017

“Tara is great. She has definitely been one of my favorite teachers here at UGA. She is super down to earth, patient, and truly has her student's best interest in mind. The material is somewhat difficult, but I never struggled because of the way it was presented and broken down. If Tara was ever teaching another class that was required, I would definitely take it. UGA is very luck to have her, wish more teachers were this great!”

“Tara Sutton has been an excellent instructor! She treats us like adults and clearly wants to see us all succeed. I feel like I was able to learn a lot of valuable things in this class without being overly stressed about it because she gives us the perfect amount of work and flexibility.”

“Ms. Sutton is a wonderful instructor. The course material for this class can be somewhat dry but she always kept things interesting. Her lectures were well organized and relevant and we frequently had class activities that reinforced the lessons from that day. Ms. Sutton was always willing to help guide us and answer questions if we were confused. On an individual level, she was always willing to stay after or set up a meeting during office hours if I needed additional help or wanted clarification on something. I really enjoyed her class and know she will be a great professor when she gets hired for a full-time job!”

Criminology, Fall 2016

“This class is the most eye opening class I have ever taken. I learned so much about things that matter on a day to day basis. I took knowledge that I gained from this class and used it for conversations with friends and family. My teacher made this class enjoyable and easy to relate to. I will definitely take Professor Sutton for other classes that she is available.”

“This was one of the best courses I have ever taken as a student. Professor Sutton provides a wide range of material which made me think and question, as well challenge. This is a fantastic course and I enjoyed every minute, from start to finish. Professor Sutton is also a fantastic teacher who puts a lot of effort into every class, I wish I could have her again next semester.”

“I would like to begin by commending Professor Sutton on her teaching methods and how the information we learn in class follows us as we incorporate it into our lives outside these classroom walls. Not only are her teaching techniques super effective, she is a very wonderful professor who understands that sometimes in life, the unexpected happens. She is willing to work with each and every student to make sure they succeed not only with their grades, but to actually learn and understand the materials taught. I love this professor in all of her aspects, and strongly recommend her to all students who are interested in Criminology.”

“I really liked the way this course was set up and Tara set us up for success which was wonderful. It always makes me want to work harder when you feel like you have a teacher on your side as opposed to against you. She explained things thoroughly adding relative articled and videos only enhancing the interest level of the class. I truly enjoyed this class this semester and am glad I was able to take it with Tara.”

Research Methods, Spring 2016

“Very helpful class especially when it comes to real world application. Ms. Sutton did an excellent job in presenting the course material as well as helping each individual student in any way she could. She graded objectively and fairly which is something I highly value in an instructor. Ms. Sutton transformed a course that can be quite dry it into one I looked forward to attending. She is an excellent teacher. By far one of the most qualified I have had thus far at this university.”

“This course was very informative and useful for my future goals. Tara did a great job at explaining all of the concepts, easy or difficult, and applying them to real life situations. It is obvious that she is very knowledgeable about the information that she taught. I loved the worksheets, assignments, and labs that brought life to the course.”

“The instructor was extremely helpful and well prepared. She also did a great job explaining difficult concepts. Furthermore, all of the resources provided throughout the course were useful in terms of learning concepts and studying for exams. Overall, due to the quality of the instruction, this course was a great addition to my academic career and the knowledge acquired in the course will be extremely useful moving forward.”

Sociology of the Family, Fall 2015

“This might be my favorite class that I have ever taken at UGA. Tara Sutton does an INCREDIBLE job of making the material in this class available to everyone. I also think that the size/location of the class contributes to the natural flow of discussion. I loves this class and think Ms. Sutton is an incredible teacher/lecturer!”

“She clearly cares about her students and is understanding. Class is very well organized and she presents information clearly. Great teacher! I love coming to class.”

“I enjoy that Ms. Sutton is a knowledgeable teacher with backgrounds in different disciplines, which I believe adds to the richness and diversity of the course. The course itself is interesting and I enjoy that it has an experiential component in that we can interview a couple for our paper assignment.”

“Ms. Sutton is an excellent teacher and did a great job engaging us in discussion and I was never bored in class. She incorporated different modes of learning besides lecturing, such as videos, discussions, and TedTalks. It was interesting to do the paper she assigned on the Second Shift.”
