Dear PCPA Parents and Students,

We hope you are having an enjoyable, relaxing, and safe summer. We are busy getting our school ready for a new academic year with: two new classrooms, state of the art conference room, scheduling high school and college classes, planting two new shade trees, adding picnic tables, adding a new lunch area, and summer school. School starts on Monday, August 3rd!! All students are expected to be there!

I wanted to make you aware of some key dates and policies for our new school year:

1)Back to School Night is Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 6:15PM in the John Paul Theatre on the Phoenix College Main campus. It is important for all students and parents to be there to meet teachers, receive schedules, and hear about new policies and information about our school

2)Freshmen Orientation-All freshmen will need to be at the PCPA campus all day on July 30, 2015 from 8AM-3PM.

New Policies for 2015-16 School Year:

A)Only seniors with 15 college credits will be allowed to go off campus for lunch

B)Any student receiving a D, F, or withdraws from a college class will no longer be eligible for college classes to be paid for (per our grant requirements)

C)PCPA will pay for the following college credits per year: 6 credits as a Freshmen (2 classes), 6 credits sophomore year (2 classes), 15 Junior year (5 classes), and 15 Senior year (5 classes). We will help students on track for an AA degree with more credits their senior year. Students will have to pay for credits above the amount stated.

D)College grade checks are required as a part of our keeping students accountable

E)All seniors must be taking at least 5 classes to be a student (high school or college classes)

F)All students (including seniors) will always have a Math and an English class (HS or college)

G)8 Unexcused absences or a combination of 12 unexcused or excused absences=No Credit in class

H)Lunch time PRIDE for all students that do not turn in homework, are late to a class, or get a referral. Three times to PRIDE will require a parent meeting. Three additional trips a suspension.

I) New Semester Bus Pass Policy: 2015 – 2016 PCPA students will now sign for semester bus pass(August, September, October, November and December) value $150.00. Please note it is the student’s responsibility if bus card is misplacement, lost or stolen. The student must pay an additionalfee to purchase a new semester bus card. This card may be bought from Phoenix College Bookstore located on main campus.

We have high academic expectations for our students and these policies are intended for the betterment of the culture of our school. Our mission is for “Every student to earn at least a year of college credits while attending PCPA and 15-20% earn their AA degree.”
