CSAC Meeting Attendees:

Staff/Admin: Michael Caccamo (Principal), Maria Aloisi (Vice Principal), Claudio Grossi (Staff), Anna Ricci (Staff)

Executive: Dominic Staniscia (Chair), Pat Lanni (Vice Chair), Brian Jahoor (Treasurer) and Lucy Sestito (Secretary)

Members at Large: Vicky Ammendolia, Joe Carretto, Daniela Cucchi, Gina Isabella, Anna Lastella, Pat Pachiarotti, Vivian Pivetta, Ana Soares, Frank Sottile, Stephanie Sottile, Licinia Antonio

Opening Prayer

Approval of Agenda

The agenda for the meeting was reviewed and approved by motion byDaniela Cucchi 1st – Pat Pacchiarotti2nd

Approval of Prior Minutes

The minutes from the prior CSAC meeting on September 17, 2012 were reviewed and approved,as amended, by motion byJoe Carretto 1st – Pat Pacchiarotti2nd

Principal’s Update

Full day kindergarten is projected for 2014…next CSAC meeting to address space issue, lobbying for funds…fire department to address re: emergencies…type of addition and implications….Mr. Yack (Superintendent), Mr. Sangiorgio (Director Planning and Facilities) and Mr. Piccininni (Trustee) to meet with principals and attend our next CSAC meeting…facilities/expansion/health & safety committee to meet with them afterwards

School Management Reports…$5,000 for the next year…paper and books, equipment, furniture

School learning improvement plan….formal assessment from June…goal was for improvement in mathematics…mathematics has improved…great gains…new area of focus is reading…look at strands math shows increase of 2%...specific gap between grade 8 and 9

School website….documents and newsletters on portal…Mr. Tonin to provide support re: pieces to be uploaded…training session

Safe school action plan needs a parent to sit on the committee…Mr. Tonin to be parent representative

Board to address bullying with video and symposium

Communication being sent to parents re: anaphylaxis CSAC to review and comment by end of week before communication is sent out and uploaded to portal…recommendation to send out a summary

Student dismissal….Kinders 3:20-3:30, Primaries 3:25, Balance of School 3:30…success and safety of the dismissal hinges on parents’ and students cooperation

Traffic study….TPS to observe local traffic patterns…suggestion to request additional crossing guard for Bannerman/Grovedale crossing

Treasurer’s Update

Budget planning has started….budget committee to meet gain before next CSAC meeting

Other Business

Chairs were appointed for subcommittees

Halloween Dance-A-Thon subcommittee update

  • Pledge forms have been sent home
  • Some prizes have been purchased
  • One collection date
  • Chips and drinks for each student
  • DJ has been contacted
  • things are progressing

Lunch subcommittee update

  • No sub lunches this year….pizza lunch every Friday
  • Motion to have Pizza Nova as supplier at a cost of $.80 per slice charging $1.50 to students 1st Pat Pacchiarotti – Gina Isabella 2nd
  • Have requested Pizza Nova for less tomato sauce on pizza…need volunteers for distribution of pizza

Lunch Lady update

  • Discussions with Lunch Lady are ongoing….objective is to have service discontinued by end of December 2012 on account of our dissatisfaction with the provider… alternate lunch provider to be approved for early 2013

Teachers’ Update

Cross country a big success….10 teachers attended therefore 97 students were available to participate

School came in 1st at Frisbee competition
