May is Asian Heritage Month: This year, Asian Heritage Month honours Asian-Canadian artists and writers who have enriched Canadian arts and culture and have been recognized on an international scale. Canada’s cultural diversity strengthens the country socially, politically and economically in innumerable ways. Asian Heritage Month is an ideal occasion for all to celebrate the beauty and wisdom of various Asian cultures. (

Spring Dance coordinated by our PTO: On May.18th, doors open at 6:10 PM for families who have pre-ordered pizza meals. Doors open for all at 6:30 PM.

Lunch time yogasessions will continue for students who previously registered.Thank you to Julie Coleman for providing this experience for students.

Our newest Buddy Bench has been kindly donated by Wheaton’s! It will be covered with painted student handprints. We are looking forward to our students benefiting from this latest addition to our school! Thank you to the family of Grade 1 student, Nathaniel.

Spring Play: Once again this year we are very excited to be able to invite you all to the Dessert Theatre that will be held on Thursday, June 1st. This year the drama group will be doing the play Aladdin. Please come and join us for a magical carpet ride to a whole new world of excitement and imagination. Keep your eyes open for email alerts with more information about ticket purchases.Thank you for the support you are giving to our school community and we look forward to seeing you in a few short weeks in Agrabah.

Reminder: When dropping off students in the parking lot, please use indicators when pulling over as well as when pulling back into the traffic flow. Also a reminder to keep the entrance to the accessible parking spots clear of stopped cars.

Grade 6 Orientation will be on Thursday, May 4th at 6:30 PM, SHJH. Grade 5 students will have tours of the school by SHJH student leaders while parents/guardians meet in the gym to receive important information. New this year is that Old School Donuts (the Donut Truck) will be outside from 5:00-8:00 for cash sales.
