Coventry Education and Research Grant

Application form 2017-2018 round

Applications are invited for following three categories

1. Educational / Research grant: for oral/poster presentation at national/international meetings (10 awards to a maximum value of £500). This category recognises those candidates who have been successfully contributed to education and selected for oral/poster presentation at national subspecialty meetings (for example SEA UK, Difficult airway society). The panel will also recognise applicants who have made a significant contribution to the Coventry Anaesthetic Courses.

2. Coventry Anaesthetic Courses Trainer award: (3awards per year, the maximum value of £1000). This is available to a consultant and staff grade or associate specialist towards pursuing a higher qualification in medical education. This is in recognition of their high level of contribution towards education and teaching for the Coventry Anaesthetic Courses or the Warwickshire School of Anaesthesia

3. Teaching Fellow grant: This category recognises the contribution of the trainees to Coventry Anaesthetic Courses as Teaching Fellows.

Eligibility criteria

Essential

All trainee applicants must be at ST grade with possession of the Final FRCA or equivalent although exceptional applications from pre-fellowship / CT trainees may also be considered.

Desirable

Should demonstrate a keen interest and enthusiasm in teaching/education and /or research.

Publications in peer reviewed journals

Presentations at regional, national and international meetings

Application short listing and selection

Each applicant must complete an application form and send it to the address mentioned before the closing date. A panel will shortlist applicants based on the eligibility criteria. The short listed applicants will be reviewed for suitability in each category. The successful candidates will be notified once the entire process has been completed (by the end of December). The candidates need to provide evidence in the form of receipts or invoices to claim the allocated grant. The grant will be released from the Finance Department based at UHCW; an amount exactly equivalent to the receipts or invoices submitted which should not exceed the approved grant.

How to claim the grant?

Once the grant is approved, you will be asked to complete an expense claim form along with receipts. You can use this for any project during the financial year 2016-2017.

Please note that these grants run alongside those awarded by the West Midlands Deanery Travel Bursaries 2017 and no applicant will be able to receive an award from both schemes for the same project/meeting/presentation. However, you can apply for this grant for a different project / meeting.
