Covenant Keepers Charter School Board Meeting 03.15.16

Called to order at 5:54 p.m.

Members present were James Jones, Noland Buckley, Cynthia Townsend, and Gorge Bazan. Ernest Sanders and Dr. Dunn. Others present Valerie Tatum, Lori Clancy, Lenard Blocker, and Marquita Hill.

Court case against Dewayne Johnson has been resolved. Case was dismissed. Mr. Jones asked that he be notified of these things in the future.

Director Report- Dr. Tatum

Must go before the State Board on March 31st at 5:00 p.m. They voted to review the panels decision. Presentation will be more student driven.
Meeting with Scott and Askew on Wednesday, March 16th. Also in talks with e-stem about taking on some of there challenged children. This would cause for an expansion.
Did receive Arkansas Arts grant. Will meet with council along with Chris James March 24th.
Meeting with Philander Smith President and Dr. Hargrove about summer program for males. Will be housed on Philander Campus.
Spoke to a few different Minsters that are willing to dedicate their time with the young men this summer.
Will get with some of our most needy parents to go over to the food bank to receive food.
Chess club over at mosaic temple. Some of our students will begin to take part in this program.
Sherman Tate will begin to bring in partners.
Mr. Jones has been coming every month meeting with Clancy and Dr. Tatum. Dr. Tatum will submit her name for City Director at the end of 2017. Dr. Tatum is going to have a consulting or LT group coming in. The group will come in from LA and they will answer to Dr. Tatum and the School Board.
Doc has requested that the board members meet with the individuals on the LT without her.
Mr. Kevin Bryant has submitted his resignation, and Rachael Rowland submitted her two-week notice and has been replaced by Sherill Williams.
Every time a meeting is set Doc wants it to be shared with LT.

Assistant Director Report- Lori Clancy

Looking at moving forward to next year. Trying to schedule times that LT can get together in order to move forward.
Looking at how to implement all of the partners and relationships that Dr. Tatum and Mrs. Roz have established.
Also looking at hiring.
Of the 10 teachers 3 are not coming back. Need more time with about 2. 4 remaining Whipps, Jones, Scroggins, and Samiya.
If we have to replace people then we have to do what is best for CK.

Ms. Townsend asked about the raise for the LT. Dr. Tatum said she doesn’t know why they deserve a raise. Ms. Townsend asked what will keep them motivated.

Principals Report- Lenard Blocker

Working to change the moral and environment. Theme is “Mind of a Champion”. Students worked on Champion Collages.

Financial Report- Marquita Hill

Audit being finalized
Strong cash balance.
