Community Support Specialist (2 Positions Available)

Summary: Assists in providing training and supports to enable individuals with developmental disabilities to live, learn, work, and socialize as they choose. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervise and provide on the job supports, career planning, vocational rehabilitation, work adjustment services, and other community based services as appropriate.
  • Assure all work contracts are completed to specifications as communicated by their Employer.
  • Evaluate individual job performance, make recommendations, and implement modifications as needed including but not limited to assistive technology, workstation modifications, training, etc.
  • Foster natural supports; facilitate acceptance and integration in community settings.
  • Assess work and interpersonal skills and write, implement and keep accurate records of training and service plans for individuals including skill training and adjustment to the work or community environment.
  • Provide advocacy on behalf of individuals with disabilities.
  • Complete and present required reports in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in team and other meetings as requested by supervisor.
  • Communicate with appropriate staff on a timely basis and submit documentation as required.
  • Plan, prepare and teach classes as required.
  • Adhere to all UIR/MUI requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Arrange community-based transportation or provide transportation in agency vehicles as needed. Maintain fuel in vehicles. Follow all policies and procedures regarding use of agency vehicles including pre and post trip inspections, reporting of accidents, etc.
  • Conduct monitoring and communication with employers or community agencies as needed.
  • Meet and maintain all agency van driving requirements and transport individuals as requested.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training preferred.

Applicant must meet the additional requirements below…

  • Must meet agency computer competency level requirements. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel and the ability to enter information on the Agency database with appropriate training.
  • ODDD Adult Services Worker Registration Required
  • Must meet agency driving requirements. May be required to drive agency vehicles. Must hold valid State of Ohio driver's license.
  • Must maintain certification in agency required crisis intervention training
  • Must maintain certification in CPR and Community First Aid and Safety through American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Must successfully complete a BCII background check.
  • Must meet all other agency employment requirements. Must meet all requirements as outlined on the corresponding job description.

Salary: $27,456 minimal annual

Hours:40 Hours per week/may need to work a flexible schedule
