Police

There has been a great deal of vandalism in the area, the Police are pursuing one group in particular in that respect. There are also high shoplifting figures in this area, a big problem with reset, the Police are working on this. They are also assigning ‘problem people’ a particular Police Officer, they will try to sort things out and gain as much info about them as possible, hopefully help the whole situation. The Police want to get away from the image that it is pointless to phone the Police

Broadford Works

Many thanks to Halliday Fraser Munro who gave a very thorough, interesting and candid presentation of the new intended planning applicationfor the Broadford Works, highlighting the items which differ from the original/current planning application. They have promised to send us a set of drawings which we look forward to receiving. We broadly welcomed the new amendments with reservations with regard to parking, sensitive piling of foundations and the provision of affordable family housing. Greig Ct/Hutcheon Ct Parking

The parking gates are broken at G & H Ct, who is responsible for fixing them? Andy May will look into that. There is an abandoned car at Seamount Ct- Police will check if it is legally parked or abandoned.

Parking

In general, is there any way that motorbike spaces could be re-allocated to car usage if they are not well used?

GENERAL

As stated crime levels have remained fairly low in comparison to other areas.

We have just completed a two day operation which successfully targeted second hand dealers and licensed premises specifically in the George Street area, in relation to stolen property. We have operations again in the pipeline this month for the George Street area, including Operation Maple which targets drug related crime and housebreakings, a drugs operation and a Community Focus operation. Public Nuisance calls are thankfully fairly low for this period.

I have also sent a letter out to the Chairman, advising of the need for everyone in the community to be aware of car related crime and be extra vigilant. This also follows on the back of a national drive to make people more aware of crime in their communities after the recent launch of crime mapping in England and Wales.

I would remind everyone, as ever, that if anyone does see anything suspicious please report the matter to the Police immediately. I would also reiterate to the community to be security conscious and remember that we do provide a free domestic security survey service to anyone who requests this.

Please feel free to approach me or any of my staff with any Policing issues in the area and we will be happy to respond and assist .
