Choose a project from the list below to prepare for submission on October 12, 2009.

All options should cover the concepts of theme, plot, character development, and setting.

Assignment Options:

·  Wiki

o  Create a wiki at www.wikispaces.com

o  Title it “E3H Cold Sassy Tree Wiki Project” (you may have to add a number at the end to make it unique.)

o  Create separate pages to discuss the plot, characters, setting, and themes.

o  Make sure to include graphics, sound, and/or video to make your wiki interesting.

o  Document any resources you use.

·  Be a filmmaker

o  Make a film version of a major event in the novel (be appropriate and careful with this).

o  Your film version should represent the setting, characters, costumes, plot, and themes of the novel.

o  Be as professional as possible.

·  Podcast

o  Create a podcast about the novel and the literary elements.

o  Discuss plot, setting, characters, and themes.

o  Be as professional at possible.

·  Scale Model

o  Create a miniature scale model of the town Cold Sassy.

o  Make sure to include important landmarks such as the railroad depot, Grandpa’s store, the Rucker Blakeslee Hotel, the Tweedy home, etc.

o  Make it as realistic as possible.

·  Board Game

o  Create a board game based on the events and the circumstances of the novel.

o  Think Monopoly, Life, Chutes-n-Ladders, etc.

o  Include directions, question and trivia cards, game pieces, etc.

o  Make it as professional as possible.

o  WE WILL PLAY THIS GAME IN CLASS.

·  Live Theater

o  Develop a script for a major scene in the play that primarily involves dialogue and reveals the development of major characters in the novel.

o  Perform the script in front of the class in full costume.

o  Consider stage directions, props, sets, costumes, sound effects, lighting, etc.

o  Should be a minimum of 3 minutes in length.

·  Essay

o  1000 word essay.

o  Analyze the literary elements of the novel: characters, plot, setting, and themes.

o  Develop a clear introduction, a focused body section, and a satisfactory conclusion.

o  Use quotes from the novel to support your assertions.

o  This is a formal essay and should not include 1st or 2nd person personal pronouns, contractions, grammar errors, slang, punctuation errors, or spelling mistakes.

o  Size 12, Times New Roman, double-spaced.

o  Your name, course name, class period, and due date should be in the top left corner of the first page and the title of your essay should be centered on the first line.
