CLINICAL EFFECTIVENESS, AUDIT AND GUIDELINES COMMITTEE –

REPRESENTING PATIENTS’ VIEWS

The Clinical Effectiveness, Audit and Guidelines Committee is seeking a Governor to join it in order to assist in representing patients’ views. The Terms of Reference are attached for information. Any Governor who wishes to join this Committee should contact the Trust Secretary to express their interest.

Clinical Effectiveness, Audit and Guidelines Committee

Terms of Reference

1.To develop strategies for clinical effectiveness and audit activity across the Trust, and to monitor the implementation of prioritised effectiveness and audit programmes within Directorates.

2.To establish education and training needs in relation to the above.

3.To promote the development and use of clinical guidelines and to maintain a database of these.

4.To ensure compliance with national audit requirements including; NICE guidelines, national audit programme and to other guidance as may be appropriate.

5.To receive all new NICE guidelines, to advise on their implementation, and monitor any areas of non-compliance until their resolution.

6.To receive other national guidance and to be notified of itsendorsement, or reasons for its non-endorsement.

7.To review and endorse NHSLA and CQC evidence as required.

8.To bring to the attention of the Medical Director any matters of significant concern to the Committee.

9.To ensure the provision of clinical evidence to support clinical audit.

10.To consider any related matters, as necessary.

Quorum: Chair / Deputy Chair plus 3 members

Purpose:The Clinical Effectiveness, Audit and Guidelines Committee is a sub-group of the Clinical Governance & Quality Committee. Its principal objectives are:

  • to develop and monitor strategies for clinical effectiveness and audit activity
  • to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place for the implementation of NICE guidelines within the Trust,
  • to be notified of all other national guidance and its application within the Trust.

Frequency:Monthly meetings, with additional meetings as required.
