Handout shared by Liane. All of this work is in preparation for 3-8 Social Studies curriculum development scheduled for the summer of 2015. Please work with your districts to take advantage of all of these opportunities.
Assessment schedules have been distributed.
Phoenix is participating in a book study with Liane. Fulton has a grading committee that has been meeting for 2 years. Hannibal is beginning to have these conversations. This will be a focus area for next year.
Flyer is attached. This will be a nice pairing with grading work.
Professional Learning
Outcome – I have an understanding of Testing Integrity and Academic Integrity and how they affect my work. / Chris Todd
  • Testing Integrity vs. Test Security
  • Test security is about vaults and lock rooms and students leaving exams early
  • Testing integrity is about cheating. The main focus is on adult cheating but can involve student cheating as well.
  • Chris is the Test Integrity Officer with support from Mark LaFountain. They had to be specially trained.
  • Advice – Do not investigate suspected incidence of cheating yourself. You may gather initial evidence, but then report it to your Superintendent, Chris, or NYSED.
  • If you try to investigate, your integrity may be called into question.
  • Always err on the side of caution.
  • Right now the focus is on erasure marks. They may begin to look at other areas such as increases in 504s or misapplied accommodations.
  • Academic Integrity –
  • Ex. Report card grades do not match state assessment scores
  • This may cause cheating.
  • Review/train all proctors prior to exams, 3-8 as well as Regents. Use caution when using substitutes as proctors.
  • Periodic training on the proper administration of accommodations is recommended.
  • Statewide data is released in July regarding investigations. Chris is willing to come back and share this info with Principals.

  • Can we get a bulleted list of talking points for things our teachers can/can’t say about opting out?

  • Kim – We should have consistency across the districts.
