School and Community

Established in 1897, ChinoHigh School is located in Chino, California, with the present fifty-five acre location being established in 1952.Chino High is a four-year comprehensive high school serving over 2,000 students consisting of 65% Hispanic, 11% Caucasian, 2% Asian,2% African American and 20% mixed/other. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The City of Chino is a diverse socio-economic, multi-cultural community with a population of approximately 84,000. Chino is a well-established residential and commercial area with a well-rounded business mix and a rich agricultural history specializing in orchard and row crops. At one time Chino was the number one dairy area in the United States. The City of Chino is within 30 minutes of 21 private and public colleges and universities. ChaffeyCommunity College has a 100-acre campus in Chino which serves local communities. As well, downtown Chino is host to a $4 millionChaffeyCollegeInformationTechnologyCenter.

Grading System

The following numerical equivalents are used to determine unweighted GPA as reported on the transcript. In order to receive credit for a class, a student must receive a minimum grade of D in that class. All grades are converted to a four-point scale: A = 4.0, B = 3.0, C = 2.0, D = 1.0, Fail = 0 (unweighted GPA). The weighted GPA includes an additional point for all Advanced Placement courses.
