We are an anti-trafficking charity which has rescued over 600 children, mostly from India, and helped put 14 traffickers in jail. We have improved the schooling of 32,000 children in 50 schools. We have a new five-year operating agreement with the government of Nepal. We have started three children’s homes and begun to capture the learning from closing a refuge and reuniting children with their families.

Our Purpose

To help as many forgotten Nepali children as possible to have a safe childhood and a secure future, especially those who have been rescued or are at risk.

Our mission

To fund work in the community to provide support for trafficked and vulnerable children, principally to provide family-based care. We also fund work to prevent trafficking.

Our name

In 2015, after extensive consultations with donors and Esther Benjamins’ family, trustees took the decision to change the name of the charity to Child Rescue Nepal. This will occur later this year with ‘formerly The Esther Benjamins Trust’ in a strapline. The logo will remain unchanged.

Introduction from the Chair

Dear Candidate,

Thank you for your interest in The Esther Benjamins Trust. Our long term de-institutional strategy includes building schools in rural villages, anti-trafficking education, managing three homes for rescued children and conducting rescues.

The earthquake in April has devastated many schools in Makwanpur, the main area in which we work, and in response we are working with the Government of Nepal on a schools rebuilding programme and providing temporary learning centres in those villages where no school remains. This goes hand-in-hand with our long-term work in the community.

The position in the aftermath of the earthquake gives an exceptional opportunity for someone of considerable drive to lead the UK team and support the Nepal Director and Chairman to open up funding and programme opportunities in the UK and Nepal.

The CEO will be expected to hold a watching brief on the public face of the charity as s/he takes it to a new stage of its development and make an impact in rural Nepal under a new name – “Child Rescue Nepal”.

We look forward to hearing from you.
