Charity of Choice Selection Process

Deadline for Submission: Friday, April 7, 2017

Background

The CSAE - Trillium Chapter is proud to give back to local communities by supporting a designated charity. Contributions to the charity have been generated via two methods – one being a donation in the name of a CSAE Trillium Chapter event speaker in lieu of a speaker gift, and the second via fundraising at Trillium Chapter member events. The total donation to Youth Assisting Youth from the period of October 2011 – September 2014 was more than $55,000. In the fall of 2014, a new charity was chosen – Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving (OSAID) - to which nearly $35,000 was donated (the program ended early due to unforeseen circumstances).

Eligibility Requirements

The designated charity must meet the following criteria:

  1. Be a registered charity
  2. Have an office based in Ontario (head office or “subsidiary” office)
  3. Be a credible entity as judged by CRA filings
  4. Be nominated by a CSAE Trillium Chapter member in good standing

Nomination Submission Guidelines

Nominations may be submitted by a CSAE Trillium Chapter member in good standing:

Chapter members may nominate one designated charity for each three-year nomination period. Nominations must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on April 7, 2017 and include all parts of the nomination package. Nomination Package Checklist

The nomination package must include the following:

  • A copy of the official registration papers of the charity including the charitable registration number

Selection Process

Nominations will be evaluated by an ad hoc committee set up by the CSAE Trillium Chapter Board of Directors. This ad hoc committee will operate under the direction of the Board of Directors with support from the Executive Director.

The selection of the designated charity by the ad hoc committee will be decided by simple majority.

Final selection of the designated charity will be confirmed by the CSAE Trillium Chapter Board of Directors based on the recommendations of the ad hoc committee.

Nominees are evaluated solely on the contents of the nomination form.

Program Particulars

CSAE Trillium Chapter members are encouraged to nominate only one potential candidate for the designated charity.

The selected designated CSAE Trillium Chapter charity will be announced at the annual meeting and published in the newsletter.
