Host Family Application – Shanghai, February 2-7, 2018

Kakehashi, February 23-25, 2018

Kojo, March 15-27, 2018

Middle East International School, April 2-5, 2018

CGS views homestays as a central part of our cultural and educational exchange program. We want to ensure that visiting students experience American family life, and we want American families to become more aware of our visitors’ culture. Even more, we sincerely want international friendships to blossom based on affection and respect.

Thank you for being willing to host a student. Please note:

  • Visiting students should be treated as a member of the family as much as possible. They should participate in family meals, activities, chores, etc.
  • Visiting students should have a bed of their own in a bedroom; it is perfectly acceptable for them to share a room with the CGS student.
  • Visiting students should have some drawer, closet and bathroom space so they don’t have to live out of their suitcase.
  • Visiting students should eat breakfast before coming to school. If the host eats breakfast at school, be sure the visitor does as well.
  • Visiting students should follow the same routine as the host student for school lunchtime. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch, or providing lunch is a financial hardship, please let us know.
  • Visiting students should attend after-school activities with the host. If that is impossible, alternate arrangements should be made in advance. Keep in mind: If you participate in an after-school sport where the student cannot participate, you should make arrangements for your visiting student to be with another CGS student or with your family.
  • Visiting students should feel welcomed at all times; host family members should feel appreciated and respected at all times.
  • Should problems emerge, host families should contact the language teacher or Ms. Parham before problems become too big to solve.

At least one week before the students arrive, CGS host student and parent should attend the hosting meeting at school. At that meeting, you will receive more guidance and a schedule for the visit.

Thank you in advance for your hospitality.
