General Description

Licensed Professional Counselor to provide crisis intervention services to child abuse victims and their non-offending family members through individual, family, or group therapy. Services include assessment and treatment plan development, evaluation of traumatized children, brief crisis intervention, and support for children during disclosure and intervention. Consultation with team members. Civil and Criminal testimony.

Education and work Experience

-  Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or related field.
-  Licensed in the State of Texas as LPC, LCSW, or LMFT.
-  Experience working with children and families.
-  Knowledge of dynamics of child abuse and incestuous families.
-  Knowledge of posttraumatic stress symptoms and experience utilizing trauma based interventions.
-  Knowledge of DSM-IV and crisis intervention techniques.
-  Working knowledge of child development.
-  Ability to function on a multi-disciplinary team.
-  Working knowledge of criminal justice system and how to liaison within the system highly preferred.
-  Experience in maintaining a client database.
-  Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish are preferred.
-  Ability to be a self starter, detail oriented, work independently and well under pressure, and able to maintain a mature attitude when dealing with conflict, disruptions, and time demands is desired.
-  Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret written and oral instructions.
-  Excellent telephone etiquette is desired.

Principle duteis and responsibilities

-  Provide individual and group services to child abuse victims and their non-offending family members.
-  Provide brief crisis intervention
-  Provide extended assessments as requested by team members.
-  Participate in case staffing/reviews with multidisciplinary team.
-  Respond to subpoenas and testify in court when needed.
-  Maintain client files, documentation of client progress, contact and services provided.
-  Maintain confidentiality of all client information and other agency information as required.
-  Complete all appropriate statistical and case tracking paperwork.
-  Participate in the statistical reporting of information to grantors.
-  Abide by all CCCAC regulations, protocols, and policies in the CCCAC Personnel Manual.
-  Attend training as needed to develop professional skills and stay current in relevant issues.
-  Maintain appropriate networking affiliation and community referrals.
-  Assist with presentations, community fairs, events, and tours of the center as needed.
-  Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
-  Perform other duties as required.
