A. What is commission?
i. Commission – an amount paid to a salesperson, often in addition to a regular salary, for selling an item or service.
ii. Commission Rate – is a percent of the value of the sales that a person makes
B. Examples:
i. A car salesman makes 6.5% commission on each car he sells. How much money does he make, when he sells a $35,000 car?
ii. If Slick Rick sells a car, he receives 6% commission from the sell. The dealer earns 12% on each car that is sold. What commission does Slick Rick receive, if he sells a $25,000?
C. What are Royalties?.
i. Royalty – an amount paid to the creator or owner of a musical or literary work, an invention, or a service.
ii. Royalty Rate – is a percent of money earned by the sale of the creation or service
D. Examples:
i. A guitarist earns a royalty of 22% of the selling price of a CD. If he earns $2.64 on each CD sold, what is the selling price of the album?
ii. The creator of a new game receives a royalty of 8% of the selling price of each game sold. The company that produces the game receives the remaining amount. If the company receives $10.10 per game, what is the selling price of the game?
