BRIGADE INFORMATION
/ / Plenty Fire Brigade /

The Plenty Fire Brigade has served Plenty and our surrounding communities for over 60 years. The Brigade was originally formed in 1947 as a satellite or sub branch of the Diamond Creek Fire Brigade and in 1961 we became a fire brigade in our own right. We also support the surrounding brigades of Diamond Creek, Eltham, Greensborough, South Morang and Yarrambat,

Today the Plenty Fire Brigade continues to be 100% managed and operated by volunteers. Our fleet consists of an urban pumper / tanker; a rural / bush 4x4 tanker; a road accident rescue appliance and brigade car.

The Plenty Fire Brigade responds to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. We have between 170 and 250 emergency calls per year or about 5 calls per week. This includes structure and car fires, road accidents, fire alarms and of course bush fires. There are also opportunities to travel within Victoria and interstate supporting other brigades in a fire fighting capacity for the larger campaigns such as Black Saturday, Gippsland and Tasmania, to name a few of the recent major fires.

The Plenty Fire Brigade is known as a Specialist Response Brigade, in that we are the primary Road Accident Response Brigade for this area. In the last two years the Brigade has been responded to over 50 road accidents requiring casualty extrication. The area we support in this capacity extends to Eltham, Warrandyte,Christmas Hills, Yarra Glen, King Lake, Whittleseaand Mill Park.
