BUSINESS MEETING FALL SEMINAR-EMBASSY SUITES, DUBLIN, OH

SEPTEMBER 22, 2011

President Clyde Bellinger called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. He introduced the board members: Angie Zeleznik, Vice President; Marcia Soos, Treasurer and Janice Speicher, Secretary. He also introduced the area representatives: Molly Schwartz, (Central); Katie Enovitch, (Northeast); June Allison, (Southwest); and the new representative for the Northwest area, Sherryl George, (absent was Kathy Kaluger, Southeast).

Clyde introduced Joyce Remec, who is the new chair for the education committee. The other committee members were introduced: Ja’net Crawford, Linda Lutts, Cathy Hilbert, Ruthanne Ross, Penny Winters, and Angie Zeleznik. Clyde thanked the committee for their hard work and dedication in organizing the conference.

Secretary Janice Speicher presented the meeting minutes dated April 28, 2011 from the spring conference in Lima, Ohio. There were no additions or corrections. June Allison motioned to approve the meeting minutes with a second from Michele Naish. The minutes were approved.

Treasurer Marcia Soos presented the treasurer’s report dated September 22, 2011 with an ending balance of $34,509.51. She discussed registrations for Kent State and to make sure when those are returned, that your information is clear so that everything in the new directory is correct. Linda Lutts motioned to approve the treasurer’s report with a second from Vicki Hughes. The report was approved.

Clyde asked for a motion to approve the Indemnification Clause as an addition to the association by-laws. This clause was distributed in the conference information. Reggie McGee motioned to approve the clause, with a second from Joyce Remec. The motion was approved.

The statewide e-mail notification created by Carol Brookhart is working well, and there were fewer late Supreme Court registrations for 2011.

New Business:

Clyde asked for the slate of officers from the nomination committee. Chair Joy Bedard presented the slate of 2012-2013 officers:

Angie Zeleznik, President (NE region)Cathy Hilbert, Vice President (CE region)

Marcia Soos, Treasurer (SE region)Janice Speicher, Secretary (CE region)

There were no nominations from the floor. June Allison motioned to close and accept the slate of officers, with a second from C. Lynn Sowell. The motion was approved. The new officers will be sworn in tomorrow by President Clyde Bellinger.

The 2012 spring conference will be at the Beachwood Embassy Suites Wednesday, April 25, 2012 through Friday, April 27, 2012. The year 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the association, so we will be making plans to recognize the anniversary.

The Ohio Municipal League released these dates for mayor training: January 19 and 20, 2012 and February 16 and 17, 2012.

Clyde acknowledged the passing of Robert Sorrell on August 20, 2011. In addition to serving as the Clerk of Court of Norwood since 2004, he had served 28 years as a police officer. In lieu of flowers, his family established a college fund for Robert’s children. The association contributed $100.00.

Molly Schwartz motioned to adjourn the meeting with a second from C. Lynn Sowell. The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
