Guide to the application form

The application form consists of four parts:

Part 1.Cover page

Basic information about the applicant(s) and the suggested pre-study.

Part 2.Narrative application

Description of the pre-study and (to the extent possible) the envisaged project. The application should follow the structure of the format, and must be written in a manner which can be understood by an external reader without prior knowledge of the context, project or applicant.

Each question comes with a guiding text and/or sub-questions written in italics, on a coloured background, and demarcated by square brackets [...].This guiding text must be deleted before the application is submitted. Alternatively, the application can be written in a ‘CLEAN’ version of the application format without any explanatory text.

The narrative application should not exceed 10 standard pages.

Part 3.Budget summary

The main items of the budget drawn up for the pre-study.Please note that the budget summary must be elaborated upon in an Annex using the ‘A:Pre-study Budget format’.

Part 4.List of annexes

A list of the obligatory and supplementary annexes underpinning the application.

The application should, to the extent possible, be drawn up in cooperation between the south partner and the Danish applicant organisation. An explanatory document must therefore be available in a language understood by the South partner. The actual application to the Danish Disability Fund, however, can only be submitted in Danish or English.

2.d Contents and expected results of the pre-study

  • Working methods (e.g. workshops, focus group interviews, field visits), which the pre-study team will use, to substantiate the analyses to be carried out.
  • Specific outputs (e.g. analyses) which the pre-study is expected to produce?

[Since an upcoming project must be designed in cooperation with the South partner(s), the Danish organisation is not expected to come up with detailed information about a future project. However, the Danish organisation is expected to have some ideas and expectations as to what future cooperation might involve, and these ideas should be based on a certain level of knowledge of the local situation and of the partner, possibly based on information from third parties. This is what should be set out in this part of the application.

If there are questions below which are not possible to answer at this point in time, section 2 above should outline how you plan to use the pre-study to clarify these matters.]

3.e Strategy

[Briefly describe what kind of interventions (e.g. advocacy, capacity-building, organisational development, strategic service delievery, information, etc.) the project will make use of, and what is expected to be the balance between them.]
