Draft Minutes
14/8 / INTRODUCTIONS AND APOLOGIES
Apologies from Neeshma Shah.
Alex Denby is moving on to a new role shortly and this will be her last meeting after 12 years of supporting new drugs and horizon scanning work in London and nationally. BR thanked AD for her immense contribution to the both London and UKMi outputs, and particularly for being the secretary of LMEN and before that LNDG. SheenaVithlani has been recruited tothe horizon scanning and medicines evaluation role at Northwick Park and the group welcomed Sheena to this post.
14/9 / MINUTES OF LAST MEETING
The draft minutes of the June 2014 meeting were confirmed as an accurate reflection of the meeting.
The only actions arising from the last meeting not covered elsewhere on the agenda was that the template and process documents have not been uploaded to the website.
14/10 / BACKGROUND TO ESTABLISHING THIS NETWORK AND MEMBERSHIP
A brief update on the remit and outputs of this group were given by BR.
Further to the minuted comment at the last meeting, keep this as a standing agenda item, as there are frequently new members to the group.
14/11 / OPERATION OF THE NETWORK AND MEMBERSHIP
The LMEN ToR have been amended and are now ready for uploading
ACTION
  • BR TO UPLOAD AMENDED ToRFOR LMEN

14/12 / ACTIVITIES TO PROMOTE SHARING FOR THE NETWORK
RR presented work to-date on the new drug and decision sharing database that has been worked up. To clarify the main points:
  • The database takes a feed directly from New Drugs Online to populate it with new drug data. It will be kept live with drug data on a fortnightly basis.
  • The drug search function allows searching by drug, indication, and licensed status. In addition, it allows for searching by BNF chapter, whether guidance has been issued or is anticipated, whether the drug has or is going to besubject to a NICE TA, and (if there’s no NICE TA) whether any non-NICE reviews have been written and published.
  • The database will be made available here, behind an NHS only password:
  • Data on decisions would be restricted to being gathered for London; however, the database itself would be accessible to anyone with an NHS password.
  • The group was otherwise generally happy with the functionality provided by the database. There are a few specific actions listed below.
  • The group recognized that the future usefulness of this resource is mainly dependent on it being available as a portal for information sharing about decisions across London and that this will be next step in its development. Once this is done, the database should be re-demonstrated to Chief Pharmacists/CCG leads.
ACTIONS
  • BR AND SV TO DEVISE A TEMPLATE THROUGH WHICH INFORMATION ON DECISION/RECOMMENDATION DATA FOR LONDON CAN BE GATHERED. PURPOSE OF TEMPLATE WILL BE TO GATHER DATA RETROSPECTIVELY (FROM APRIL 2014) FOR 4 AREAS OF LONDON.
  • TEMPLATE TO BE USED TO GATHER DECISION/RECOMMENDATION FROM NORTH WEST LONDON (BEN/CECILIA TSE); NORTH EAST LONDON (VICKI KONG); SOUTH EAST LONDON (DAVID E); SOUTH WEST LONDON (NICK BEAVON). RECOGNISED THAT SW LONDON MAY BE SLIGHTY PROBLEMATIC IN THAT ALL DECISIONS ARE MADE AT THE INDIVIDUAL CCG LEVEL.
  • BR AND RR TO AMEND DATABASE SLIGHTLY AS PER COMMENTS AT MEETING AND VIA EMAIL. IN PARTICULAR:
“DECISIONS” GENERALLY NEEDS TO BE AMENDED TO “RECOMMENDATION” AS THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH HOW THE GROUPS OPERATE IN MOST GEOGRAPHIES
SOME SORT OF DISCLAIMER NEEDSTO BE ADDED ABOUT THE CURRENCY OF THE INFORMATION (I.E. DATE OF DECISION/RECOMMENDATION NEEDS TO BE PRESENT)
OTHER COMMENTS RECEIVED VIA EMAIL THAT NEED TO BE WORKED THROUGH
  • BR TO UPLOAD NEW DATA

14/13 / NEW MEDICINES REVIEW WORK
UPDATE ON REGIONAL MI PRODUCED REVIEWS
  • SC gave anupdate on reviews that have been written and published using the template.
Tocilizumab is finishedand uploaded
Ozurdex is finished and uploaded
Omalizumab and atomoxetine are in progress – DE has taken over atomoxetine from SC to do if needed.
UPTAKE OF THE TEMPLATE BY DECISION MAKING GROUPS
  • The new templateis being used by SE London as well as for some other reviews elsewhere. All APCs to start using it ideally. It is being used by regional MI centres for London-wide LMEN reviews. Template remains available open access on the website.
  • Discussion surrounding whether reviews written in the template should remain on the website for drugs in the NICE pipeline once the NICE TA has been published. Decided that this would be acceptable and that the work should remain available; these reviews will obviously be clearly dated and identifiable as pre-dating NICE TAs.
ACTIONS
  • DE TO ARRANGE FOR EXISTING DOCUMENTS TO BE UPLOADED FOR SE LONDON.
  • OTHER REVIEWS WRITTEN LOCALLY USING TEMPLATE TO BE UPLOADED WHEN AVAILABLE.
MEDICINES TO BE REVIEWED FROM NOW ON PAN-LONDON BASIS BY REGIONAL MI TEAMS
The group discussed reviews that might need to be written this quarter on a pan-London basis. The group noted that some uncertainties remain about which drugs will be NHSE funded and which CCG funded, and these discussion were had in conjunction with which pan-regional reviews to pursue.
The group considered further action (s) were necessary for the following:
Biosimilars
  • SV to find out who else is likely to review 2 biosimilars: infliximab (Napp and Hospira products) and insulin glargine (Abasria). Need to find this out relatively quickly as products available early next year.
  • DE and team are planning to write a “Guide to biosimilars” as a UKMi Q&A document, which could be shared.
Vortioxetine
  • NICE TA due Sept 2015.
  • Mental health drug, so NC will be reviewing locally anyway prior to NICE. NC will do this using the template and upload to website.
  • Unlikely to be much other (non-specialist mental health) interest prior to NICE.GP to ask in SE London if anyone is interested in it.
Naloxogel
  • NICE TA due July 2015 watch and wait.
  • GP to ask in SE London if anyone is interested in it.
Netupitant and palonosetron
  • For chemotherapy induced N/V.
  • Maybe some interest given recent issues with domperidone.
  • Review early next year potentially – but to confirm need for this at next LMEN meeting
Guanfacine
  • Similarly to vortioxetine.
  • NC will be reviewing anyway. She will do this using the template and will then ensure uploaded to the website shortly.
Aflibercept
  • For DMO alicense extension is due Q1 2015.
  • Not in NICE timetable.
  • SV will do this one (as she did a review of Ozurdex). Availability of such may be useful for IFRs particularly.
Dalbavancin
  • For management of skin and soft tissue infections
  • Potentially interesting as this is a once weekly formulation.
  • SV to do review for this one.
Ferric citrate and ferrihydrite
  • Watch and wait – bring forward to re-consider at next meeting.
Liraglutide for Obesity
  • SV to check whether anyone else is likely to review this nationally and then bring forward to next meeting.
Lisdexamfetamine
  • For adults with ADHD
  • DE will do when request comes in for it for South London and will then make review available.
Naltrexone and bupropion
  • For management of obesity
  • Yes: to do a review for this one.
  • SC to lead.
Safinamide
  • DE to check with Kings if any interest
  • Bring forward to next meeting
Serelaxin
  • SV to check whether any other groups are doing this and report back at next meeting
Tedizolid
  • SV to check what this is, just a ‘me too’, or a new drug?
Vorapaxar
  • SV find out more info for next meeting
Pitosalient
  • SV find out more info for next meeting
Sonidegib
  • SV find out more info for next meeting
Ceftolozone + tazobactam
  • BR to ask the antimicrobial specialist pharmacists whether they want reviews on these
