Nursery and Foundation Stage / Musitrax 1
Collection of songs and rhymes with a limited range (2-5 pitches) aimed at developing a range of skills eg: keeping pulse, clapping rhythms, simple songs.
African Caribbean Evening. / Christmas presentation unit: All chn involved performing a 30m (max) presentation/ play which includes singing, optional instrumental parts, acting, movement and dance. Presentation to be picked on a yearly basis.
Carols by candlelight. / Topic Songs eg: Animal songs and activities based on a familiar theme to be used for short musical moments, preferably daily. / Topic Songs: eg: Number Songs to support basic Maths and explore musical repetition / Mela Evening / Topic Songs: eg: Healthy Living.
Opportunity to explore healthy living through movement, songs and activities with optional performance as part of Sports Day or class assembly.
Key Stage 1 / Musitrax 2:
Collection of more advanced songs, rhythms and activities which build on skills and range developed in reception.

Each Unit of Work is based on a range of styles and genres and musically draws together listening/ appraising/ composing/ improving and performing skills.
Mela Evening / Musitrax Play:
Again based on the previous collections Musitrax Play uses popular classroom instruments such as recorders, drums and glockenspiels.
Lower Key Stage 2 / Cyclic Patterns:
This course explores the west African Djembe drumming and considers the cultural significance and place of West African drumming. The children listen, play and compose their own pieces of music.

Upper Key Stage 2: / Blues:
This course explores the history, purpose and music of the Blues. The lesson plans explain how to listen, copy, improvise, write lyrics and perform within the Blues idiom
African Caribbean Evening. / “Eh-Oh!” The Useful Plough (Britten)
Unit of Work based on 2 songs from Benjamin Britten’s Friday Afternoons, forming part of a nationwide singing project.

Covers a range of styles and genres and are musically drawn together with listening/ appraising/ composing/ improvising and performing skills. / Hip-Hop Course: A rich collection of resources and stimuli for experimenting with and exploring the Hip-Hop genre, including sequencing, mixing and sampling.
Mela Evening / Hip-Hop Course Composition: Building on the skills learnt the previous half term, the chn in Y5, write their own compositions to be performed to the school at the end of the year as a celebration.
