Brief History:-The age old Khallikote Autonomous College, established in the 19th century, provided facilities for teaching Hindi as a pass subject in the year 1957. It has the credit to impart Honours teaching for the first time in the state from the year 1978. It its the 3rd institute of the state to provide P.G. teaching in Hindi since 2004.

The P.G Department of Hindi, though small is a prestigious one of the college as well as of the state 100% result every year. The Hindi section in the library is an asset for the department creating an excellent atmosphere for research. M.Phil. courses started from the year-2014.

21.Extention work/community work:

i. Maximum students of our department have been enrolled their names as N.S.S Volunteers

a. N.S.S day was observed on 24.09.15 Volunteers cleaned the P.G Dept. of Hindi and the Varanda.

b. Active Citizenship Programme an awareness programme sponsored by State Youth Welfare Board, Department of sports and youth services, Govt. of Odisha was organised on Dt. 22.02.2016 and 22.03.2016. All volunteers of our department were participated in this programme.

c. On Dt. 25.02.2016 a Beach cleaning awareness Programme was organised for sea safety and pollution free Beach Environment. Students participated in this Swacha Bharat Abhiyan and cleaned the Gopalpur Sea Beach at Gopalpur.

ii. N.C.C-One girl student of our department selected in the state level to join R.D.C 2016 at Delhi.
