BEFORE YOU APPLY

The Social Innovation Internship application is available through an online form. Due to the nature of this form, applicants will not be able to leave the application incomplete and return to it later. (It must be completed in one sitting, without closing the web browser to return to it.) To assist applicants, this document contains all of the information you will need to compile before beginning the application, as well as the questions you should be prepared to answer. Please read this document thoroughly before beginning the application. This is to ensure that it is completed professionally, and that questions are answered thoroughly and thoughtfully.

In addition to the online application, you will need to email Dr. Fiona Wilson () the following materials, ideally in a single email:

  • A copy of your unofficial transcript in PDF form (see instructions below**)
  • Your resume
  • A writing sample, 2-10 pages (or longer, but any additional pages will not be read) that demonstrates your analytical thinking and professional communication skills.

Save all files as PDFs with the filename format, “Lastname-filetype.pdf” (e.g., “Wilson-transcript.pdf”, “Wilson-resume.pdf”, “Wilson-writing sample.pdf)

For the online application, you will need:

  • Your pre-written answers to the application questions, in order to copy and paste into the application form (see box below**)
  • Your student ID number
  • Three references: two UNH references, and one non-UNH reference. You will need to provide each reference’s name and contact information, as well as their relationship to you. (No actual letter of recommendation is needed at this point.)
  • Your spring semester schedule (i.e., the times during the week when you are unavailable for an interview)

In the application, you will be asked to rank the host organizations at which you would most like to be placed. You are not expected to rank all of them; you may rank as many as you are interested in. Please refer to the 2016 internshipsto learn more about each organization, internship, and summer location. You should also research the organization’s website before you begin the application.

Please note that your application will be judged based on its professionalism, so it is recommended that you prepare your answers to essay beforehand to ensure that questions are answered thoroughly and are free of grammatical errors. To do this, download the Application Working Document (in Microsoft Word) and save your answers on your own computer:

If you have any questions or issues while completing your application, please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Fiona Wilson .
