BAND BIOGRAPHY
PAN FANTASY STEELBAND was formed in 1986 as a subset of the North York Inter-Community Youth Group. Over the past 20 years the band has grown from an intimate group of players to an impressive collective of vibrant musicians. The band has earned top distinctions at home and internationally placing 1st at the 2006 and 2005 "Pan Alive" Competition in Toronto and placing 2nd and 3rd in the New York "Panorama" Competition.Our current arranger, Al "Allos" Foster, is one of Toronto's most respected young arrangers. Al Foster has arranged for the band for the past six years and has positioned this band to place 1st in the 2006 and 2005 Pan Alive Competition and no lower than second in the prior 3 years running. Our membership ranges from 15 core members throughout the year to upwards of 40 players during the annual Caribana season. Pan Fantasy is a dynamic, versatile and highly talented group with a reputation for delivering high-energy performances that are sure to keep the audience dancing. Our music genre's range from Calypso and Soca, to Reggae, Classical, Pop, R&B, Latin, Jazz. You name it we can probably play it!
Past performances include private functions such as weddings, birthdays, corporate fundraisers and government galas. As we are a member of a Not for Profit organization we continue to participate in community events. We are part of the annual Caribana parade in Toronto and other events associated with it such as: Toronto Island, and the Toronto Harbourfront festival.
We also help organize and participate in the annual Snowflakes of Steel winter concert involving other top bands from within Toronto’s steel pan community. Due to continuous dedication this show has sold out six years straight.
We are always happy to entertain whenever and wherever.
