Each student at SMU including distance students, receives a Welcome letter by US Postal mail from SMU. This letter is usually sent to your home address and shows your SMU IDand your SMU Email. If you do not get this letter after the semester starts, contact Jim Dees at 214-768-1456 or the registrar’s office at 214-768-2038
Important course materials as well as your examnumerical grades and your course letter grade will be loaded into Bb. This will be your notification of your exam results and answers to exam questions. You should use the exam answers in Bb to verify my grading of your exam. Your final course letter grade will also be loaded into SMU Access soon after Bb is loaded and all exams have been graded.
Please log on the day before the first class and hit all of the links on your Bb home page. It is a fairly simple course management system and it will get your exam grades, exam answers, mail and important course information to you quickly.
How to logon to Bb?
1)Log into Bb using
2)Enter your Login name that is your SMU ID (you must use an 8-digit SMU ID with leading zeros if necessary to make the 8-digits).
If you have lost your Welcome letter and your SMU ID, call the SMU Help Desk at 214-768-HELP (4357) or email them at and they will reply to with instructions about how to get your ID. They will need your Name and Social Security number for verification
3)Enter your Password which is your SMU ID (unless you changed it)
4)Click on your course “Engineering Finance” or "Engineering Accounting"
Now you are in YOUR class home page from where you can navigate to view your grades and exam answers.
You are encouraged to change your password and you should consider using the same password that you use for SMU Access. If you change it for the Finance or Accounting course, it is changed for any SMU Bb course in which you are currently enrolled or will enroll in the future. However, changing your password in a course also changes the password for your other Bb courses, if any.
SOME MORE ADVICE FOR YOU FROM Bb MANAGEMENT
Some will report that you cannot log into Bb. Trust the developers: In the vast majority of the cases, you are typing in the wrong User ID or Password, not using any leading zeros in your User ID, are ignoring case, are pressing the <ENTER> key before you type the password, or the CAPS lock key is on, or the NUM lock key is not on. If you are certain that you are following instructions, click the help option.
Do you know how to get your SMU Email?
The SMU Email address is in the form and is obtained through WEBMAIL
Your SMU ID is necessary to get your SMU Email and is discussed on page 1 above
All SMU students have both.
Why are they important?
The SMU ID is necessary to access several systems such as.
- To get email addressed to your SMU Email address in the form of
- To get into SMU Access and verify your final course grade
- To get into Bb to get your exam grades and exam answers
- To get into your SMU WEBMAIL for viewing SMU Email on such items as getting tuition paid, viewing your tuition bills and getting other communications sent to that Email account. Tuition billing for students is only sent to your SMU Email address.
