Application Instructions for “People in Mission” Grant

Presbytery of Beaver-Butler, Presbyterian Church (USA)

The Mission and Compassion Ministries of Beaver-Butler Presbytery has available each year money for grants, to encourage congregations within the presbytery to participate in mission trips, either as teams or individuals. Priority will be given to churches, or individuals, who are going on a mission trip for the first time or trips where multiple small churches are going together when funding requires.

The Guidelines for scholarship grants are:

  1. The mission trip shall be endorsed by the session of a church in the presbytery.
  2. Grants will be awarded up to a maximum of $300 for an individual and $1200 for a church group.

The committee reserves the right to make exceptions in special circumstance.

  1. A representative of the Mission Team shall report on the trip to the MCM Unit, and participate in the annual presbytery event to spotlight the mission activity of the presbytery that year.
  2. Applications for People in Mission grants should be received by the Congregational Mission Unit at least 60 days prior to the trip.
  3. Grants will be reviewed by the MCM Unit at the next stated meeting after the receipt of the application.
  4. Checks will be made out and sent to the sponsoring church.

Mission and Compassion Ministries

Encourage Mission Involvement

The Mission and Compassion Ministries provides support and encouragement to local congregations to create and sustain a strong mission involvement. This Unit provides resources for mission opportunities, funding, and networking with other congregations involved in mission. The Unit informs congregations of mission opportunities, and models mission support. The Unit not only encourages and supports, but also publicizes the good news of congregational mission endeavors.
