PLAYER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (PAC)

Purpose

To provide player input into the clubs functioning and to promote positive communication between Executive and players.

Process

Players are to represent the views of players in general and not those of the individual. Committee meetings are to be conducted in a professional manner ensuring all players are treated with respect and dignity.

The PAC should;

  • provide opportunities for players to raise matters of concern with Executive in relation to policy or operational issues;
  • promote player ideas to improve the quality of the club for both players and visitors;
  • act as a channel of communication between players and Executive and promote positive interaction;
  • provide a forum to facilitate player recommendations for changes to club operations; and
  • assist in the development and or implementation of club initiatives where appropriate.

The PAC will;

  • not be a decision making forum;
  • not be a forum for the raising of individual grievance issues which should be resolved through other processes; and
  • the President will provide for the administration and control of a PAC.

Frequency of Meetings

Meetings should occur at regular intervals having regard for the operation of the club. Monthly intervals are recommended.

Communication

Committee members are to be allowed to meet with the players they represent on a formal basis to discuss issues to be raised with Executive and meet as a group to prepare and discuss agenda items prior to scheduled meetings.

Meeting Format

Meetings are to be conducted in the Old Boys Shed. The meeting may be chaired by a member of the Executive or a player delegated by the committee. The President and Vice President should attend the committee meetings on a rotational basis.

Remuneration

There is no remuneration for committee involvement.

Documentation

Minutes must be taken for each meeting.

Composition a Committee

The PAC should consist of not less than six players, all or part of which may be nominated by the players.

Nomination of Members

Nomination of player members to the committee must be managed to ensure representation from all key areas of the club. The President may decline to accept a nominated player onto the committee but in such an event the player concerned must be advised of the reason for refusal.

Vacancies

Vacancies on the committee should where possible be filled within one month.

Period of Tenancy

Nominations for the PAC will remain current for a 12 month. Upon completion of a 12 month period, representation should not preclude an individual from again nominating or accepting nomination by the President.
