The Minutes of the Annual Towns Meeting of Electors, held on 22 April 2013, were circulated and approved as a true record.

2REPORT ON TOWN COUNCIL ACTIVITIES

The Mayor, Councillor J Hart, gave a detailed statement of the Town Council’s main activities during the past year.

3STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTS

The Clerk circulated a draft statement of accounts for the year ended 31 March 2014. Residents and Members were informed that minor changes may have to be made before going to audit.

4MATTERS RAISED BY MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC

aTown Council Reserves

A resident requested confirmation of the Town Council’s balance of uncommitted reserves. The Clerk stated that she did not have that information to hand but would email the resident as soon as possible.

bEnforcement Officer

Councillor P Haith enquired about how the Town Council intended to pay for the Enforcement Officer referred to in the Mayor’s report. The Town Mayor stated that provision had been made in the budget.

cGreen Infrastructure Strategy

Councillor Mrs P Knight enquired what response had there been to the consultation on the above strategy. The Town Mayor stated that Councillor Knight would be furnished with this information as it was not to hand.

dStation Road Recreation Ground – Horses

Councillor Mrs P Haith enquired about what is being done regarding the illegal grazing of horses on the above recreation ground. The Deputy Clerk gave feedback on the conversation she had had with Doncaster MBC the previous week. The Town Mayor, once again, reiterated the complexities of having horses removed and said the matter had been reported to the Police as criminal damage had been caused to the entrance gate.

eYork Road Recreation Ground

Councillor Mrs L Curran enquired why she had had no correspondence for the past year regarding the issue of York Road Recreation Ground being sold for housing. The Town Mayor stated that Councillor Curran was invited to every Town Council meeting and she received copies of all the minutes of the meetings, at which she could raise the issue.

fHorses & Traps

A member of the public enquired about the legality of ponies and traps using the highway. He was concerned about the speed they travel and whether they are permitted on the roads. The Town Mayor stated that enquiries will be made.

gElections

A member of the public expressed his concerns over the content of a leaflet distributed by a resident standing for election to Doncaster MBC in May 2014, particularly to the comments on EDDT. The resident is a Trustee and felt that the comments were totally unfounded. The Town Mayor stated that the Town Council had no powers regarding elections and any matters in this regard should be referred to Elections at Doncaster MBC.

hHatfield & Dunscroft Miners Recreation Ground – Gate

A resident enquired if consultation with the public had been undertaken regarding the removal of the gate in the fencing on The Broadway side of the above Recreation Ground. He also asked when the situation will be reviewed. The Town Mayor reiterated the circumstances under which the unanimous decision had been made to remove the gate and re-fence the gap.

A resident asked if the Town Mayor had seen an email that had been circulated containing inflammatory remarks about a member of the public. The Town Mayor stated that he had not seen the email.

iHatfield Library

Councillor Mrs P Knight stated that she welcomed the Town Council’s involvement in trying to retain Hatfield Library.

jGrants

A resident enquired whether it would be possible, as grants are now only paid once a year, for the Town Council to send reminders to the various organisations that they are eligible to apply for a grant. The resident was informed that this was not usual practice and that this information is on the Town Council website and is also included in the Town Council newsletter, circulated to all residents.
