Officer Reports

Chairman(RC):

  • Club was in a weak position at the beginning of the season: Ladies had dropped to four teams from three. Men had just about kept their three teams together. Four of the club’s six teams had been relegated.
  • By the end of the season, four teams had finished in top ½ of their table – the other two had finished in respectable lower table finishes. Much stronger than previous season when several teams (ladies and men’s finished rock bottom with only a few points between them.
  • Section has well and truly recovered from period of instability: teams are playing at appropriate levels, much less travelling for all teams, and all home games/training back in South Liverpool.
  • Leaving St Edwards has been good thing: less cancelled games for weather and more post-match socialising.
  • Training has also been better with move to Wyncote attracting better numbers and the new coach being well-received. Turnout has not been consistently good however and still need to find ways to encourage members to take advantage of the training that they pay for.
  • Membership fees and match fees have been raised to allow us to pay for new pitches. Prices are still competitive and have not seemed to have a detrimental impact on numbers.
  • Club appears to be more comfortable with regards to umpires, but always encouraging members to get qualified.

Secretary:

  • HS not present.
  • Role involves taking minutes of meetings, sorting out affiliations to various bodies, acting as club’s first point of contact, distributing materials, etc.

Finance(HDT):

  • Brought forward: £8557.39
  • Total Income: £15,000
  • Total Expenditure: £15,000
  • Income/expenditure: £120
  • Carried forward: £8665.86
  • Still some costs to be paid before end of season.
  • No need to increase membership fees. Will have to increase if pitch costs go up.

Fixtures (RC):

  • Used IM Marsh and Blue Coat for all home games. More convenient and good quality of pitch. Will continue with this arrangement going forward.
  • Blue Coat can’t be used after 1pm which is a bit problematic – they plan to extend this so could be used as main pitch in future when IM Marsh is demolished.
  • Thanks to Danny Duffy for finding alternative training to St Edwards which took a lot of time an effort. Although time doesn’t suit everyone, now that we are there we can possibly alter time in future.

Membership (JVM):

  • Job involves getting money and forms from players and keeping record of this.
  • Thanks to captains for helping get money in.

Social (CC):

  • Rewarding to see everybody enjoying themselves at events.
  • Four socials took place – all successful.

Resources:

  • LE not present.
  • Involves going to monthly meeting with members from other sections of MHAC.

Vice-Chairman(DD):

  • Vice-chairman currently takes responsibility for kit and summer training.
  • Easier to order with Akuma so no longer buying in bulk which we did with Zoti.
  • 60 home shirts sold so far.
  • Away shirts were too similar to home so changed colour.
  • Cheaper socks are ordered from different supplier. Original batch had negative reception so changed supplier.

Welfare (JVM):

  • The club’s welfare officer looks after young players and ensures legal obligations are met.

U18 (JW):

  • Section has had a male and female U18 rep on committee this season but both are too old to continue.

CaptainReports

Ladies 1s (KH):

  • Thanks to coach for support, L2s and L3s captains for help and Ken Mc for umpiring.
  • Finished 2nd in LWHA Div 1 and semi-final of cup.
  • Lots of players have done really well and developed.
  • Successful on social side too.

Ladies 2s (SF):

  • Thanks to coach, captains, Jo Berkley for help and Ian G for umpiring.
  • Thought we might get relegated mid-season but ended up finishing 5th in LWHA Div 1.

Ladies 3s (KP):

  • Took over mid-way through the season.
  • Struggling for numbers early in season but managed to pull together and get players back so finished strong.

Men’s 1s:

  • AP not present.
  • Drew first six games but picked up lots more wins.
  • 4th in NWHL Div 4 (South)
  • David Crawford top scorer, Danny Duffy 2nd.

Men’s 2s (RS):

  • Turmoil in previous season with struggles for players and bottom placed finish in previous season.
  • 5th in Div 6 (South)
  • Good to see new players pushed up teams.
  • Played for all men’s teams and enjoyed the experience. Need to work as team and put in effort to make things work and good that things have improved.
  • Nathan Tsao voted player of season.

Men’s 3s:

  • AHS not present.
  • Team was on verge of folding previous season so massive improvement all round.
  • Finished 3rd in NWHL Div 8 (South West)
