General Rules and Regulations:

  1. Absolutely no sick birds will be allowed in the show building. Exhibitors must posses a Pullorum Typhoid clean certificate for all poultry except pigeons and waterfowl. All entries will be examined by a state poultry inspector or veterinarian; any evidence of parasites or infectious diseases will result in the birds being unable to enter the show. Sick birds discovered after coop-in will be removed from the show hall.
  2. Birds will be entered at the sole risk of the owner. The show management will exercise every precaution to prevent accidents, loss or damage to your bird, but will not be held responsible should these things occur.
  3. Poultry will be judged by the principles set forth in the Standard of Perfection of the American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association in classes permitted in the standard.
  4. No birds should be removed from the show hall until all of the awards are presented. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in the forfeiture of all prizes.
  5. A current copy of the Certificate of Pullorum must accompany the entry.
  6. Juniors must be old enough to place birds in their cages to receive awards.

Entry Information

Entries should be post marked no later than by May 29. Entry fees for the open show are $3.00 per bird. Double coops are $5.00 each and request must be clearly stated on the entry form. Entries received without money will be returned, No Exception. Please make checks payable to the Boston Poultry Exposition and mail the entries to Edie Rochette PO Box 178 Haddam, CT 06438. There will be classes for cock, hen, cockerel pullet. Junior Entry fee is $2.00 per bird.

Schedule of Events

All birds must be cooped in by 9:30am sharp Sunday June 6th. For your convenience the show hall will be open on Saturday at 5pm until 9pm to receive birds. The building will be secured for the night and will reopen at 7 am on Sunday.

Testing of Birds

The state of Massachusetts requires all birds exhibited with in the state be tested and clean of Pullorum-Typhoid. We can not provide testing services at the door. Please mail a copy of your certificate with your entry. The sale of untested birds at the show is prohibited.

Vendor spots will be available for a nominal fee. Please make sure you have Pullorum certificate for all sale bird. You can not sell without one.

Showmanship Clinic

Learn what showman ship is all about. The time of the clinic will be posted at the show. All children are encouraged to attend.

Age groups:

Novice: never participated in a showmanship class before regardless of age

Pre-Jr: Under age 9

Jr: Age 9-11

Intermediate: Age 12-14

Senior: Age 15-18

If there are less than 4 entries per class division the show committee can combine classes where necessary.

Modern Game Bantam Club of America Special Meet

Award requirements – Only paid up members of the MGBCA members prior to judging are eligible for club awards. There must be a minimum of 28 moderns entered with a minimum of 3 members showing. Dues are $12.00 –Club patches are 3.00---Breed books are $3.00 ----Pins are $10.00. Cochins International Special Meet

Master Breeder upon achieving 500 points in no less than five (5) years.

One point is earned for every five Cochins exhibited for Best and Reserve of Variety.

One point is earned for every five Cochins exhibited for Best and Reserve of Breed.

One point is earned for every five Cochins exhibited for Overall Champion (Large Fowl and Bantam competing). There must be at least five Large Fowl and five Bantam Cochins in competition. The points are awarded for the highest win an individual bird earns in its class.

A Certificate of Merit will be awarded for the first One Hundred points in any variety. Awards offered by Cochins International will be issued only to persons that are members in good standing prior to judging. Mail dues to Membership Chairman Matt McCammon, Rt #2 Box 98M, Bloomfield, IN 47424, or purchase a Membership prior to judging from the club secretary. Annual dues as follows: Adult and Family Membership/$15.00, Junior Membership (under 18 years of age)/$7.50. Membership includes three newsletters annually, a Breeders Directory, and eligibility for awards at all club meets. All Cochins, Large Fowl, Bantams, and Frizzles are eligible for Master Breeder Points.

National Call Breeders of America

Special Meet

National Call Breeders of America will award Master Exhibitor points for best and Reserve varieties for both the Open and Junior shows, provided there are 2 call exhibitors and 25 call ducks judged. Points will be given to NCBA Members in good standing prior to judging.

OLD ENGLISH GAME BANTAM CLUB OF AMERICA

Special Meet

  • Club members or team/family that win Best and/or Reserve of Variety with five or more birds competing receive points through our Club points system.
  • Points are accumulated throughout the year and each member or team/family then competes for “Top Variety Exhibitor” of the year awards.
  • Total points for all varieties shown are also accumulated throughout the year and each member or team/family then competes for “Top Exhibitor” of the year award.
  • Other awards that Club members or team/family can attain are “Citation of Excellence” and “Breeder of Distinction.”

The Old English Game Bantam Club of America is affiliated with the American Bantam Association and the ABA requires that the number of birds shown and not the number of entries determine number in class. All shows are required to return a Club Show Report Meet Form in its entirety within 90 days of show completion in order for it to remain valid. The Old English Game Bantam Club of America is devoted to the promotion of Old English Game Bantams everywhere. The APA invites you to become a member. Annual dues are $15.00 for one (1) year, $40.00 for three (3) years, $25.00 for one year outside the U.S. and Canada. Junior dues (for those 18 and under) are $10.00 per year. Endowment Trust Life Membership is $240. All Annual and Endowment Trust Life Members receive our yearbook and are eligible to earn points toward a Master Exhibitor Award. Every member is eligible for the awards at this show.

A minimum of five (5) Master Exhibitor Award points will be awarded to any qualified win at this show.

$1 Bantam Buck for Champion and Reserve Champion in all other classes of 100 or more, plus a listing in the upcoming yearbook in the section Who’s Who in Bantams.

All wins in Classes of 100 or more will be denoted with a star * and be retained in the ABA records to accumulate towards the Master Exhibitor, Master Breeder, and Lifetime Achievement awards.

Only ABA members are eligible to compete for the above awards.

Dues are $20.00 per year $50.00 for three years.
