ALFA ROMEO GETS ON ITS BIKE IN PARIS!

The Paris Motor Show in September will see Alfa Romeo debut two new models, but they will only have two wheels and their power output will not be measured in kilowatts, but limited to one human power with the Italian car maker revealing three bikes that will match its automotive products for style, design technology and, given the right human on the pedals, performance.

The ‘Alfa Romeo Stradale’ is a joint collaboration between Wolfgang Egger, Chief Designer at Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, and Veber Ferrari, lead designer at Compagnia Ducale. The shape of the frame has been inspired by the dynamic arrow-shaped Alfa Romeo shield that is such a prominent part of the every Alfa Romeo car. The frame is made from TIG welded alluminium 7005 allow, while the forks are in carbon fibre, partially exposed to enhance the performance links with Alfa Romeo. With the exception of the Michelin tyres, all the components are Italian, includingCampagnolo for the 2x10 gears, Miche for the 28-spoke wheels and brakes, and Sella Italia for the saddle which has specifically been designed for comfort. The bike weights in at just 9.8 kilos.

The Stradale name given to the first Alfa Romeo bike is both a link to the history of the car maker, with legends such as the 1867 Tipo 33-2 Stradale, but also is an indicator that this is a bike intended for road use.

The Alfa Romeo Cross, on the other hand, is, as its name suggests and its colour from the Alfa Romeo Kamal four wheel drive reveals, is intended for off-road use. Indeed the colour is not just the only Kamal inspired element of the design. The frame’s lines deliberately mimic those of the Kamal. Completing and topping the Alfa Romeo bike range at the Paris Motor Show will be a limited edition carbon fibre racing bike, the details of which will be released at the show.
