❏To help you understand our school business better, we will briefly describe our school (e.g. age of the students; location; environment
Al Sahwa Schools is a bilingual, private school located in Muscat, Oman. It offers education from KG1 to Grade 12. Our school follows the Cambridge Curriculum (IGCSE) up to Grade 10. Our Grade 11 and 12 follow the Omani General Education Diploma, which is the National Curriculum. There are 1190 students and 115 teaching staff from all over the world. We have a Girls School and a Boys School on the same campus. We have a cafeteria a football field an indoor gym a playground a running field/lobby , science labs as well as computer labs which are available during our break times
Section C: Our Resources
❏Here is a description of the resources available at our school that we could use to start a business, including how we can use the school location as a business opportunity and how we could use our skills for our school business.
We have water, electricity, wifi, land, rubbish that can be recycled, a gym, an auditorium, computers & printers, pre-fab storage rooms
We are located in a commercial area with Banks, Hotels, Malls, numerous restaurants, shops and a cinema complex within close proximity. A beach is also within walking distance. This guarantees a steady stream of people into the area so it is an ideal location for a business.
Our students have art skills, ICT skills, cooking & farming skills, accounting skills, sports and teaching skills.
we have a large kitchen in our school with cooking supplies.
We have more than a 1000 pupils in this school who will initially be our target market.
Section D: Generating Business Ideas
❏a) When putting our heads together these are the five business ideas we thought of:
❏ second hand market
❏ burger shops
❏manual gym
❏game store
❏coffee shop
b) The business we would like to set up is: a Charity Shop where we will sell used items at super low prices?
And these are 3 reasons why we chose this idea:
●we are a small group so it will be easy to run
●no need for a lot of people nor time
●no need for a big capital outlay since goods will be donated
●there is only one other Charity Shop in Muscat but it is not well known
❏Our final Business Idea will be sustainable and have a positive impact on the environment and our community because:
Selling second hand goods prevents them going to landfill and will serve to reduce waste.
All goods that cannot be sold will be recycled.
We live in a throw-away society so we will encourage people to donate rather than throw away what they do not use anymore.
People will be given the opportunity to donate good to our charity shop, people will be encouraged to buy from our charity shop and members of the community could volunteer to man the shop if manpower is required
Our business idea therefore has Environmental benefits, social benefits, it is sustainable, will contribute towards reducing waste, it will save our customer’s money, and will help the poor and needy.
Section E: Start-Up Capital

❏If our business needs start-up capital, we are planning to raise it by:

-we do expect to have to lay out much start-up capital since the school has the storage pre-fabs which we will use to store our stock

-we will be using from our savings since we believe that this idea is a good one

❏friends, people in the community who are willing to donate and family
