LETTER OF INTENT

Before completing a Letter of Intent, it is important that you have read the information contained on our webpage at The Letter of Intent gives you an opportunity to provide AAFC with a summary of your proposal for funding in order to determine whether or not it is a good fit with AgriFlexibility’s strategic objectives. Letters of Intent may be submitted to assist in determining eligibility, but full proposals will be required to be considered for funding.

In selecting project proposals for consideration, AAFC assesses each Letter of Intent against set criteria that are intended to maximize the outreach of the program and benefits to the agricultural sector

AgriFlexibility will enable proposals that fall under at least one of the following three elements:

  1. Investments to help reduce the costs of production or improve environmental sustainability for the sector
  2. Investments in value chain innovation and sectoral adaptation; and,
  3. Investments to address emerging opportunities and challenges for the sector

Organizations or individuals need to demonstrate that their proposal: will enhance the sector’s competitiveness or contribute to the public interest; is technologically feasible; and, that they possess, or can reasonably be expected to secure the requisite technological and managerial capabilities and financial resources to achieve the stated objectives of the proposal. The Letter of Intent should be prepared with due care and information be clearly presented and succinct.

If you are submitting yourLetter of Intent by mail, it should be double-sided, provided on 8.5 x 11 paper, unbound, numbered and sent to the AgriFlexibility mailing address:

Proponents can also submit an electronic version of the Letter of Intent to and mail or fax a signed copy of the Declaration with the appropriate documentation.

A program officer will review the information and call you to discuss the project proposal.

h)What are the estimated total costs of the project and how much funding is needed from AgriFlexibility?

NOTE: AgriFlexibility is designed to encourage collaboration between the federal government and the provinces, territories and industry. To ensure benefits across the value chain, preference will be given to proposals that demonstrate a collaborative approach. While an industry contribution of 50 percent of total eligible proposal costs is targeted, preference will be given to proposals with industry contributions of 25 percent or more.

Information provided may be disclosed to third parties for purposes of assessing the Letter of Intent
