ZoomText 9.1 Installation Instructions

1.
Create a persistent network connection to the JAWS server. Select START then My Computer. Select the MY NETWORK PLACES link on the left hand side of the window.

If there is already an icon for a connection to the server ( the label will read "zoom91 on jaws.oat.csulb.edu" ) then you can skip to step three. The icon looks like this:

If there is NOT already an icon for a connection to the server:

Select the ADD A NETWORK PLACE option on the left hand side of the window to launch the ADD NETWORK PLACE WIZARD.

At the ADD NETWORK PLACE WIZARD

Select NEXT to begin.

· Select the option labeled Choose another network location, then Select NEXT.

· In the "Internet or network address" field enter in the server and share name \\jaws.oat.csulb.edu\zoom91 then, select NEXT,

It may take up to ninety seconds before you are prompted for a user ID and password.

When the “Connect to lats.jaws.ad.csulb.edu” option screen appears

· Type in the user name id jawsuser

· Then type in the password jaw$us3r to authenticate

· Check the box that says "Remember this password."

· Select OK.

Then select NEXT.

2. The Zoomtext Installer screen should be the next screen to load:

· Open the ZT9ClientSetup folder and run the Zoomtext 9.1 installer package by double clicking the left

mouse over the setup.exe file to begin the installation

· Select the RUN option to launch the installation.

· Check the box DISABLE SPEECH OUTPUT DURING SETUP, and then click on NEXT.

· Check the box I ACCEPT THESE TERMS, and then select NEXT.

· Make sure the CUSTOM INSTALLATION radio button is selected, then select NEXT.

· Select NEXT.

· UNCHECK the box "Run ZoomText automatically when the system starts,” then select NEXT.

· Click on FINISH to complete the installation and reboot your system.

CSULB Students are accustomed to having a hot key mapped to this application. Right click on the ZoomText icon and select PROPERTIES. Left click on the SHORTCUT KEY field and then press CNTRL + ALT + Z. The text "Ctrl + Alt+ Z" should then appear in the SHORTCUT KEY FIELD. Click on OK to apply the change and close the ZoomText Properties window.
