Mission

MHAF exists to improve people’s mental health

and wellness through education, advocacy

and supportive services.

Community Impact

Every day our friends, our neighbors and our children are impacted by mental health problems that disrupt lives and impair their ability to function. Founded in 1955 by local citizens, MHAF has been providing FREE programs and services to children and adults of all ages in our community for nearly six decades.

Our HelpLine, the only mental health information and referral service in our region, is a lifeline to people who feel they have nowhere else to turn for compassionate and knowledgeable guidance. 5158 callers were connected with resources and treatment services in 2014 – a 19% increase from 2013.

Our Senior Visitors program provides isolated older adults with free, weekly in-home services by trained volunteers that help them stay healthy, safe connected with our community.

A community is only as strong as its residents. One in four families will face mental health challenges this year. MHAF helps people stay well and productive through services like support groups, Mental Health First Aid training, and Suicide Prevention education for local high school students.

We need your help

to continue this important work!

MHAF receives no state or federal funding; no fees are charged to anyone; no services are billed for reimbursement. We are proud to report that 93 cents of each dollar donated to MHAF goes directly to helping people in our community. Our ability to respond to the many people who count on us each day depends on the support of people like you.
