A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in honor and loving memory of Roslyn Hager Burchett.

WHEREAS, Roslyn Hager Burchett was a native daughter of the Commonwealth, born in Paintsville, Kentucky, on December 13, 1932, to the late Harry and Priscilla Baldridge Hager; and

WHEREAS, Roslyn Hager Burchett was a graduate of Prestonsburg High School and furthered her education at Mayo State Vocational School and Morehead State University; and

WHEREAS, Roslyn Hager Burchett served diligently in her community for many years, working for the Kentucky West Virginia Gas Company, Combs and Combs law firm, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the Kentucky Employment Service until her retirement in 1998; and

WHEREAS, Roslyn Hager Burchett was a passionate and steadfast leader in her community, actively committing her efforts to the Floyd County Extension Service, Quilt Guild, and countless neighborhood initiatives; and

WHEREAS, Roslyn Hager Burchett was a loving steward and steadfast anchor in the community of faith, serving the First Methodist Church in Prestonsburg as a Sunday School teacher, administrative board member, sewing circle member, and United Methodist Women's secretary; and

WHEREAS, Roslyn Hager Burchett was the beloved matriarch of her family, the loving wife of 58 years to Robert L. Burchett; the devoted mother of Diana (Neil) Turner and Harry Lee (Sandra) Burchett; the proud grandmother of Joshua Neil Turner, Matthew Kyle Turner, Michael Lee Burchett, and Logan Grey Burchett; and the cherished sister of Paul Hager, David Hager, the late Carolyn Howard, and the late Bob Hager; and

WHEREAS, on January 13, 2013, Roslyn Hager Burchett departed this earthly existence, leaving her family and community in solemn mourning, and leaving a lasting legacy of commitment, compassion, and love;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

âSection 1. The Senate does hereby express its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Roslyn Hager Burchett during this time of her passing.

âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Roslyn Hager Burchett.

âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Robert L. Burchett, 120 Burch Oak Lane, Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653.
