CALL TO ORDER:10:02am

  • President’s Report:
  • CCIC: The following was discussed: Improving the Classified hiring process, creating a new hire orientation process, creating a Classified Handbook & campus safety (text messaging system is not working properly).
  • Campus Safety: A lively discussion was started with almost every senator voicing their concerns in light of the shooting at the SCC. More active shooter training was called for and the computer “panic button” was discussed.
  • New Hire Orientation – an incumbent classified staff member can meet with a new hire in the first couple of weeks and provide mentoring.
  • Classified Professional Development: Classified staff work different shifts and scheduling Professional Development during “standard hours” (Mon-Fri 9a-5p) does not work for everyone. Provide comp time instead of release time.
  • Treasurer’s Report: Stricken from the agenda.
  • CHPP Report:The report will be completed in a couple of weeks and will be sent out to everyone for voting.
  • Committees Discussion: (Discuss needs for all & create guidelines for reporting out): Officers and Senators broke out into their committees to plan internal procedures and set an agenda for the 2015-2016 year.
  • Classified Handbook: Set up a meeting with the Ad Hoc committee to develop ideas for the Classified Handbook.
  • Recognizing Classified Senate Promotions: Work with the Classified Senate Recognition Committee to recognize classified staff who have been promoted. (Include promotion information during convocation).
  • Mentorship Program:
  • Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) has a mentorship program for classifieds with special skills (E.g., Outlook, Crystal…etc. experts). Revisit this topic.
  • Survey all Classifieds in order to determine if they would prefer an orientation for newly hired classifieds or a mentorship program.
  • Unity with Sister Schools and the District Office:
  • Campus Run Around: Solve the issue of student’s getting the “run around” and the miscommunication that occurs between different departments on campus procedure and policy. How to foster greater communication/camaraderie between departments.
