COMPETITION RULES

WARM UP:

Riders/Horses will warm up for both flatwork and jumping in the specified warm up area.

START ORDER:

Riders will proceed in strictly numerical order to the Dressage Arena where they will perform their Flatwork Test.

Immediately after the Flatwork Test, riders will proceed to the jumping area where they will start the jumping phase. The conformation assessment will also take place in the jumping arena.

FLATWORK TEST:

The horse and rider will show a required sequence of basic movements, at walk, trot and canter in a 20m x 60m arena, which will allow the horse to move freely forward. This will not be marked per movement [like a dressage test] but will be assessed as to the quality of each of the three paces, and the overall way of going ie: the willingness of the horse to perform the test. Faults such as being “over bent/behind the vertical” etc. will be penalised.

All trot and canter work should be at working paces and rising trot is encouraged.

JUMPING TEST:

This will be at Intro level (90cm max) / Pre-Novice (1m max) and will follow immediately after the Flatwork test. The horse will jump five Show Jumps [six elements including a double] and then immediately proceed to six portable Cross Country Fences, which will be simple and inviting.

CONFORMATION:

The Conformation phase will be judged after the Jumping Test.
