NEW HAVEN, CONN. Sports Haven is the site where twenty-four competitors will devour hot and spicy Buffalo Wings with all stomachs focused on a share of Two Thousand Dollars in prize money. Contestants with cheeks bulging will be fed as many chicken wings as they can eat in the allotted time, while their entourage of family, friends and WPLR radio listeners will be cheering them on.

Once again 99.1 WPLR ’s Chaz & AJ - Connecticut’s #1 morning show - presents another wild event in their long line of crazy ideas with the 99.1 PLR/Chaz & AJ/Eat The Meat llI“This Time We’re Not Cluckin’ Around” Wing Eating Competition on Saturday January 24, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Sports Haven in New Haven, Connecticut. Along with all the mayhem, two of the twenty-four competitors will pound enough poultry to each win a one thousand dollars cash prize. Prior to the wing eating, WPLR Morning Show Co-host Megan Doll will entertain the hungry crowd by singing the National Anthem. There’s more live entertainment by Connecticut’s own “Atomic Elvis” Band. And you can also count on PLR’s Chaz & AJ Morning Show staff to add their special brand of humor and wildness to the occasion. The eating competition will feature first timers and champions from past years. The Eat the Meat III wing eating competition contestants include a Police Detective from Meriden, Connecticut, a father and son, a funeral director and a brother pitting his appetite against his own brother. All contestants are competing for the title of the 99.1 WPLR/Eat the Meat III “This Time We’re Not Cluckin’ Around” Wing Eating Competition Champion, one of the two thousand dollar cash grand prizes and a specially designed crown.
