A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE MRS. CARRIE TAYLOR ASHFORD, OF RICHLAND COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HER NINETIETH BIRTHDAY, AND TO WISH HER A JOYOUS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AND MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH AND HAPPINESS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are delighted to learn that Mrs. Carrie Taylor Ashford will celebrate her ninetieth birthday on March 11, 2007; and

Whereas, Carrie Taylor Ashford, the daughter of John and Carrie Taylor, was born on March 11, 1917, not long after the dawn of the twentieth century, and as that century and the beginnings of the twentyfirst century have brought incredible changes and developments to this nation, Mrs. Ashford has been there to witness nearly all of them; and

Whereas, she was the beloved wife of the late Aaron Ashford, the Lord blessing this union with eight children, eleven grandchildren, and ten greatgrandchildren; and

Whereas, having lived in Columbia all her life, Mrs. Ashford has been a member of Zion Chapel Baptist Church since the age of nine and attended the original Crane Creek School when it was a oneroom wooden building; and

Whereas, after thirtytwo years of dedicated service at Eau Claire High School in Richland County School District One, she left to begin a well-earned retirement; and

Whereas, the House of Representatives is proud to honor this truly special lady at the celebration of her ninetieth birthday and joins with her family and friends in congratulating her on reaching this extraordinary milestone. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Mrs. Carrie Taylor Ashford, of Richland County, on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday, and wish her a joyous birthday celebration and many more years of health and happiness.
