A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXTEND THE CONGRATULATIONS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES TO THE RICHLAND NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL “CAVALIERS” BOYS’ TENNIS TEAM AND THE TEAM’S COACH, DANIEL STRICKLAND, ON THEIR OUTSTANDING DETERMINATION AND HARD WORK THROUGHOUT THEIR SEASON AND ON CAPTURING THE 2003 CLASS AAAA BOYS’ TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE ON SATURDAY, MAY 10, 2003.

Whereas, participating in tennis affords young people the opportunity to learn unique athletic skills and the importance of hard work and determination; and

Whereas, becoming a champion in this sport requires every member of the team and coaching staff to have special leadership and physical abilities; and

Whereas, using those talents, Head Coach Daniel Strickland and the members of the Richland Northeast High School “Cavaliers” Boys’ Tennis Team competed in several matches during their season improving their techniques and working diligently to achieve their common goal of winning the State Championship Title; and

Whereas, before advancing to the final round of play, the team played several challenging matches throughout the season, including a match against Hilton Head which the “Cavaliers” easily won by a score of 60. The victory against Hilton Head led the team to a muchanticipated rematch with Lexington High School for the State Championship; and

Whereas, last year, the “Cavaliers” lost in the championship match to Lexington, history was not repeated this year. Richland Northeast crushed Lexington by a score of 51 and captured the Class AAAA Boys’ Tennis Championship Title, concluding their season with 25 victories and 1 loss; and

Whereas, the members of the 2003 Richland Northeast High School “Cavaliers” Boys’ Tennis Team are Max Babcock, Chris Britt, Neeraj Chandra, Stephen Collins, David Collins, John Griffin, Jason Hood, Alex Houck, John Kozelski, Adam Lovit, Johnny McArthur, Will McArthur, Bret Miller, Jeff Muthig, Harsh Prasad, Luke Whiteside, and Adam Zager; and

Whereas, it is with great pleasure that we recognize the physical and mental abilities of these young South Carolinians and hope that they will use those skills in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, extend their congratulations to the Richland Northeast High School “Cavaliers” Boys’ Tennis Team and the team’s coach, Daniel Strickland, on their outstanding determination and hard work throughout their season and on capturing the 2003 Class AAAA Boys’ Tennis Championship Title on Saturday, May 10, 2003.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the members of the Richland Northeast High School “Cavaliers” Boys’ Tennis Team and Coach Daniel Strickland.
